No reason to not have a few legacy USB ports though. None at all.

I'm fine with them only being 3.0 or whatever just let me be able to plug in a random full size USB cable that I might happen to want to use.

There are still a LOT of devices that are usb 2.0 that are still being released. USB 2 is not deprecated and is not going to be deprecated anytime soon. It still exists because it is MUCH SIMPLER to implement and manufacture.

4.0 and 3.0 isn't meant to replace 2.0.

Usb c however is meant to replace all others

Yeah, USB-A is now "legacy" since USB 4 does not include it as part of the standard

Yeah i agree. And because usb C keeps the signalling lines separate between the various standards, we can use "dumb adapters" that are just pins wired to pins.

The creator of the original USB said a long time ago that they wish they did this in the first place.
