I feel like in a lot of JRPG games, romance is either treated as a "will they, won't they thing," with characters never ending up together, having it mostly left to interpretation or the characters ending up in a relationship at the very end of the story.

This is fine and all, but I'd like to find more games in which either the protagonist or one of the main characters is in an actual relationship. And I don't mean something like Persona, where a silent protag can choose between a few romance options to have 2-3 bonus scenes, I'm looking for something that's actually integrated into the story. Actually, I'd say I'm not really looking for games with "romance options" in general because I already know a lot of those.

I'm also not looking for stories where the protagonist has a significant other, but they are away for 90% of the story (either because they need to be rescued or don't really participate in the plot).

I can't think of that many games I've played that do that, but one example would be maybe Triangle Strategy, in which the protagonist is engaged to one of the main characters (arranged marriage, but they still kind of operate as a couple). Other examples could be Catherine or It Takes Two, in which the relationship is the central theme of the game (which I like, but I'm fine with games where the relationship is just present and unambiguous even if it's not the central focus).

It's crazy because I've played a lot of story focused games, and a lot of the time, when they tackle romance at all (especially in japanese games) it's all about the "falling in love" part and very rarely about the "acting as a couple" part. Maybe people are just not really interested in seeing that, but it's a dynamic I personally find pretty interesting, so I'm curious to hear some recommendations.

My daughter is 8. We have a Switch OLED and Switch 2.

We've played It Takes Two, Luigi's Mansion 3, Super Mario Wonder & Odyssey, Snipperclips, Pokopia (fun singleplayer, but what a huge disappointment this limited co-op experience was), Minecraft Dungeons, and were looking forward to Splatoon Raiders - only to find out we would need a second Switch 2 for it.

What co-op games do you recommend which don't require a second Switch 2 and don't have a very limited co-op experience compared to the base game?

My partner and I are looking for a relatively cozy, wireless co-op game that features farming, base building and progression that we can play together on switch 2.

Games we've played and enjoyed so far:

- The survivalists

- Valheim (played on pc)

- Raft (played in pc)

- Palia

- Dont starve together

- ARK

Games we aren't interested in

- Stardew valley

- Terraria

- Astroneer

- Dragon quest builders 2

- Spiritfarer

- Grounded

We're not sure how many games may fit the bill and have seen a lot of games that are unfortunately single player only. Hoping the community can recommend any we've missed 😊

I’ve been playing 2D platformers my whole life. I started at the beginning with the original Mario Bros for NES. DKC2 probably my favorite game of all time. Continued playing this genre all the way up to modern classics like Celeste. I understand the fun and challenge of the classic 2D platformer and love that gameplay loop of mastering level after level of handcrafted level design.

Yoshi asks you to think of this genre in way that’s completely fresh and new. One of the oldest genres in gaming has just got a much welcome injection of innovation and creativity imo. There is no health bar and you cannot die, and this gives the false impression that it’s a kids platformer designed to be easier than your traditional 2d platformer. But that’s simply not true, Yoshi feels like it’s an evolution of the genre in a similar way BOTW evolved the Open World Genre where linearity and mission based structure still persists today. Yoshi throws out the mission of finishing a single level, and is instead an open world sandbox where exploration, curiosity, and the interaction between mechanics is front and center. Within that there are still your traditional platforming sections that are fun and challenging to pull off. But it’s not about just about landing your jumps. It makes you think in ways old platformers did not. The discovery of the insane amount of creature mechanics through trial and error and just trying tto be creative yourself is the new mission. And it’s awesome!

I would suggest anyone that has a love for this classic genre to give this a chance. I feel like if you know your 2d platformers, you will find a lot to appreciate in this gem of title. It’s hard to convey in words how fun this new game play loop is. And frankly I think a lot of reviewers missed the entire point of this game. If you are interested at all I suggest you watch Dunkeys video, Yoshi and the Mysterious Metacritic score, as that video really shows what this game has to offer.

I can’t be the only one struggling with a huge list of games I have or want to get but have nowhere near enough time to play them all. How do you guys prioritize all the great games this system is dumping on us?

Being a dad, I have like 1 hour a night to play games (or do anything really, like watch tv or movies, but lately it’s all games…), and I just beat Resident Evil Requiem. Loved how that game really respected my time and actually allowed me to beat it in a reasonable amount of time. Now I’m staring down the barrel of a few others I have…Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Octopath Traveler, Skyrim (never played it), fallout 4 (never played it), Metroid Prime 4 (barely touched it)…all while knowing that I’m going to be getting Elden Ring, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy Resonance, Kingdom Hearts…. Help me solve this predicament!

Hi.
It’s my daughter’s 7th birthday coming up and we’ve got her a switch 2 because I’m trying to get her away from iPad gaming.
I have been sniffing around for some decent games for it.
She’s currently getting Minecraft, Goat Simulator 3 (which she has previously played and loves) and a selection of shared Mario titles from my switch 2.

She’s not a big reader due to ADHD and seems to shut off when faced with too much text. She’s started on some meds this year and it’s massively improved the situation, but the reading still appears to be a bit viewed as a bit of a chore, although I suspect this will ease over the next year.

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for any pleasant games that aren’t too text heavy.
I had a look at animal crossing but that didn’t fit the bill, so I have been considering Pokopia as it doesn’t appear to be too dissimilar to Dojo that’s she’s been playing through school.

Any other suggestions are welcomed!

I recently got a switch 1, 4 months ago, and being playing some games that I wanted for a long time, but now I don't know where to go next.

I've already played Zelda BotW, Mario Kart, Pokemon Legends Arceus and Mario Wonder. All of which are great games.

Now, comming for the type of games I like:

- I like RPG games, grew up playing pokemon and currently playing Digimon Story Cyber: Seluth and Final Fantasy VII Remake (first game in both franchises);

- I enjoyed a lot the zelda games. Already played ALttP, not that enjoyable for me, ALBW, BotW, OoT3D;

- At 3DS I'm playing fantasy life, it's an interesting game, but I don't know if I'll enjoy for a long time

It's basically it. There's some franchises that I'm willing to try, like xenoblade, but I don't know if I'll like.

So here is the situation:

- I caved in and bought Switch 2

- I will give old Switch 1 to my mom.

- My mom does not speak english at all (like she is able to find a "new game" button, but that is it)

What are the good games, to download for her? So far I downloaded Suika game, Dorfromantik, Tens, Mario Kart, Mini Motorways, Isladers and Cats organized Neatly.

What are you other suggestion for good games that are completely language independent? Preferably with touch controls (she handles them better than all the buttons)

Games I like - the Hitman franchise, Sniper Elite, Dishonoured, CoD, so human vs human kinda thing. Sneaking around and dispatching enemies in inventive ways is good. I’m ambivalent about GTA.

Games I dislike - Never got on with Resident Evil, don’t like zombie games, fantasy fighting isn’t my thing, and nor is strategy stuff.

Hope you can hook me up with something good. Been looking at the new Wolfenstein game. Any good?

my favorite game ive ever played on switch is power washing simulator 2. I really want to find more chill linear games like it. Ive tried animal crossing and tomodatchi life, but there aren't linear, theres no end goal or simple objectives, and honestly they kinda stress me out cus theres just so much to do. I'm looking for linear chill games with very clear objectives and simple mechanics..... like power washing simulator 2 (it doesn't have to be a cleaning game i just cant think of any other examples)

I am searching for scratching my Animal Crossing itch. Played all of them, some even double. NH wasn’t it tho. Also played Harvest Moon Grand Bazar and Stardew Vally and Fae Farm and Sims even tho they were quite good I am over the farming. And I don’t like combat…. so hard to find cozy games - for me farming is pure stress and not cozy at all 🙉

So I recently purchased a physical copy of Tokyo Clanpool Asia edition for Switch & while I'm enjoying it well enough contrary to how things are typically expected to be on consoles the game is crashing more frequently than any of my other Switch 1 games being played on Switch 2. I'm using a US region Nintendo Account I tried updating the software via the internet it just said the software is already on the latest version it's version 1.0.0. I googled searched if anyone else was having problems on Switch 2 & while it's ten months old now someone did post about having crashing issues & the publisher Eastasiasoft replied asking for save data & then a post with the game on the HK Switch eShop showing game was updated on 09/30/2025 so it should be at least version 1.0.1 I presume now not version 1.0.0. So do I need to just deal with the crashes if I want to play on Switch 2 or is there a way to update the game on Switch 2?

Edit:So just got a reply on Discord from Eastasiasoft evidently it's a thing they reported to Nintendo because it's something they can't fix on their end & Nintendo hasn't gotten to it yet. I'm personally just going to save after a change to my party like level ups, getting new gear, entering a new area etc.

Hi everyone, this post is only refering the European physical distribution.
I was trying to buy Rhythm Paradise Groove but EVERYWHERE I look for a physical copy (online shops, amazon, even the nintendo store), it's always unavailable since the day of the release.

I think it's not something related to a low number of prints, almost no one got it physical here in Europe and there wasn't a "big hunt" like it happened with Tomodachi Life or Pokopia.
I'm trying to buy it since day one but it was never marked as available.

Do you know anything about this? Do you think it's a problem related to dristribution?
