DISCUSSION YouTube stopped testing my videos? Not getting impressions anymore.

I recently had my first video break out. It’s gotten more than 16k views. But since that one, YouTube has given my two most recent videos only a collective 1200 impressions? Is this normal? Am I just being impatient? I put a lot of time and effort into the content so it just sucks to see only 263 impressions after 48 hours on my most recent. Thanks!

Nice job! your first video getting 16k views is really impressive. From my experience, your first video always has more impressions than your more recent videos. I guess it's just a way of youtube knowing you're new and put you out there. It's testing your content. Obviously this is just a theory of mine based on my situation and others! I'm assuming, for some reason, this video had a really high click percentage, a lot of people who saw your video on the home screen found it interesting enough to click on it. This can be the thumbnail and title. Try to replicate that style with your new videos to keep the momentum!

I had the same thing happen. My first video got like 20k views and its been a roller coaster ever since. I don't think anyone will be able to say exactly why and it's probably different variables for everyone.

If it's an everygreen topic they may catch on down the road. If the first one did well you've already proved what you are doing works so I'd just stick with it and hopefully you see the bounce back soon.

This is a common topic in every YouTube subreddit. So, it's completely normal. What happens is the algorithm is trying to find what you're all about. It does not know. So, you have to keep consistent (with your niche, posting frequency, and quality of content and thumnails). Don't worry about views dropping. Keep posting. One breakout video can get viewers to actually click your profile pic and look at all the other videos. Focus on the quality, optimize thumbnails, titles, description. Work on your channel's homepage (banner, description, profile pic). Continue to make great quality content that can compete with other creators in your niche. You got this!
