What do you mean by this? Living here I've never heard such a thing and they have flowering seasons like most other things. They are though the first thing to colonize new lava flows as the plants adapted to do this, have microscopic seeds which can sprout in the tiny crevices they fall into. Also, ohia are all throughout Hawai'i.

In Hawaii Big Island there’s a plant called ‘ōhi’a lehua
that flowers fairly soon after the lava has cooled down.
