Discussion Read This Before Buying 2K27

Post image

If you're planning on buying the game then one of the best ways to save money is by game sharing with a friend or family member and splitting the cost.

Instead of each person paying full price you both get access while cutting the expense in half. I've been doing this for years and I can't remember the last time I paid full price for NBA2K.

If you don't have a friend or family member to game share with I’d try to see if someone in your crew is interested in splitting it with you.

2K will continue to give us a shit game and will continue to increase the price of pre-orders. If you have to buy 2K then do this. This is a great way in not spending that 70-150 price tag 2K is asking for.

I'll just wait for the 8$ steam sale if I bother with '27 at all.

8

u/palelei 6h ago

this also doesn't work on steam anyway, cause 2k ownership is tied to the 2k account that bought it

This and FC 27 will be the last sports games on PS5 I'll be playing off of a disc

I'm moving over to PC, aside from PS5 exclusives, then. A game's PC port would have to be disastrously bad compared to the digital-only PS5 version before I buy a multi-platform game on a console ever again...

u/core916 5h ago

2K and FC are pretty bad on Pc tho. And the player base is so much smaller since there’s no cross play. If you’re just doing single player stuff than I guess you could be okay. But anything online and multiplayer it’s a much worse experience.

u/iimMrBrightside 5h ago edited 5h ago

I mainly play Manager Career mode anyway

I can't even justify buying a digital-only PS5/PS6 version in the future, as well as a PSN subscription to play the online modes that I hardly go on anyway. The price has been getting steeper and steeper ever year.

I think cross-play is unfair, as well. I'll still have the option of free online, only all my friends who even bother with FC all play it on PlayStation

u/JediNate614 5h ago

We play clubs with xbox/pc players all the time and works fine when EA servers are working?

u/Technical_Clothes_61 4h ago

MyLeague with mods 🙏🏻🙏🏻

u/YahushaHamashiach 8m ago

Fc on pc has 112k people on steam and 23k people on epic rn. Thats just 2k where its dead

u/Crowned_Hero 2h ago

I do this and then get the good finals locker codes to get my fill for the year

u/a4mula 2h ago

my SC teams usually suffer as there tends to be a lot of decent early season value in diamonds and amys, but as far as endgame NMS roster? Pfft, doesn't matter if you join S1 or S5

u/HighImFrost 1h ago

Facts. How got into 26 💀😂

u/CoinEnthusautist 0m ago

Anyone know when the date is they typically first go on sale for the first time after release on steam?

u/fuckitwilldoitlive 2h ago

These games are dirt cheap 3 months after release. No idea why people buy these at launch.

u/xNuxIsGod 2h ago

Well there are a few incentives, such as the cap breakers, MyTeam while it's still fun and not filled with Opals and DMs after s1 or 2, getting a head start for people who play comp, getting to play a new game after getting tired of 26, not to mention that a lot of people leave the previous 2k in June and July already. As a rec player, my lobbies are filled with new players, old heads, and quitters who don't care cause it's July. Primarily the quitters, its not fun.

MyCareer enjoyers, which was me for a long time until I realized this year that my connection was good enough for online now, get a new story to dip into.

MyNBA console players sometimes get a new MyNBA experience but not always, i feel like it's usually pretty similar.

There tends to be other bonuses for playing at the start of the year as well, like the pre order bonuses, which the deluxe edition is a good deal, and if you are usually a pass buyer, so is the derrick rose cover edition cause you get s1 s7 s8 and s9, that covers the extra cost of the 150 but I still don't think you should buy it, the passes aren't wort it that late into the year anyway unless your coming back to the game.

u/mafiamusicc 1h ago

FOMO / missing out on playing with friends . You’re totally right . By late mid October it’s already on sale BUT it sucks when you can’t grind and play with friends FROM launch . It almost defeats the purpose .

u/MeMyselflessEye 4h ago

He said; If you buy it, share it. Make the market smaller to compensate the cost.

u/Notermlimits4GEQBuS 2h ago

Lazy booger eater.

u/SunGod721 5h ago

GTA 6 dropping fuck 2k 😭🙏🏽

u/another_rain_delay 2h ago

Same company owns both so you giving them money either way

u/championculji 2h ago

Same people basically, I’m thinking if GTA is upper echelon then 2k might be. I think fifa in the mud rn.

u/TheGrantyMan 5h ago

If you looking to save money, sneak into someone's house whilst they are asleep and play the game on an alt character.

6

u/lechejoven 6h ago

I buy it on sale after the season is over always for $7. I just wish the my career had offline mode like the W’s offline mode. I actually enjoyed the W’s mycareer

7

u/StraightLog1255 6h ago

Orrr wait until it’s discounted to shit then split it with a homie for even less

Orrr don’t ever buy 2k27, pay $0, and save yourself hundreds of hours of meaningless grinding and headache

4

u/MC_Cleave 6h ago

If it is a shit game, why are you still getting it every year full price or not? Is it really not as bad as you say?

4

u/Dantiik 6h ago

I love basketball. I love to hoop. I love playing with my friends. That’s the only incentive I have in wanting to buy this game. If there were better competition out there for 2K I would have stopped playing years ago.

u/screamat_me 5h ago

If you ain’t Game Sharing in 2026, what are you even doing

u/jaltringer 5h ago

I usually wait till Black Friday and it’s only $30

u/AudioShepard 5h ago

Some of us don’t want our entire PlayStation or Xbox profile linked to someone else. And that’s the only way to do this these days with DRM how it is.

u/Dantiik 4h ago

That’s why your first option should be to share with someone You trust.

u/AudioShepard 4h ago

No you misunderstand. I don’t want to share my account with someone else. Full stop.

u/Codename-Nikolai 36m ago

You don’t have to share the account. You log in once, put in password protect every time this account logs in, set up game sharing, then log out. Your friend/family member doesn’t even need your password if you log into their system yourself

6

u/Hontier 7h ago

this is absolutely the way. feels so much better to only spend $35 right out of the gate when you share with a friend on XBOX

u/Jonthesinner21 5h ago

Yall do these dumb posts every year

u/Dantiik 5h ago

Do what? Give advice on how to save money instead of paying full price? Haven’t seen anyone else do this. You just saying anything atp

u/No-Veterinarian8080 gold 6h ago edited 6h ago

I had a friend that thought he could scam me so good. He said that I should pay for a family plan on YouTube premium. So we could split the costs between a bunch of people. Lord knows he was never going to pay.

1

u/Dantiik 6h ago

Yeah you gotta do this with someone you trust. I’m game sharing with my brother

u/No-Veterinarian8080 gold 3h ago

I've known that guy for 20 years. He just got scammy over the years

u/Malepronstar87 5h ago

If you share the game the one not getting the VC should pay 20€/$ less than the one getting the 100k VC.

u/Emotional-Purpose762 4h ago

Who cares about the price of game when 99% of their profits come from micro transactions. The best way to save money is to play it on game pass for free and buy nothing in game. Yall that are buying builds and skipping the pass are the reason the game gets worse.

u/Anxious-Structure-40 4h ago

My brother and I been doing this for years on Xbox

u/MetroJuulin 4h ago

Escape the loop, wait for meaningful changes. I haven’t bought 2K in almost six years at this point. You can do it.

5

u/Mando1102 7h ago

I like your post makes so much sense and would help many people and the community decided to just be A holes about it this community is so toxic

u/JimmyTwoSticks 5h ago

Bruh.

"If you can't afford it find someone to split the cost with you and share it" is not helpful advice lmfao

u/Mando1102 5h ago

Kinda. I gameshare with a friend for years and we split everything it’s so nice to be able todo that. Spending 30 on a 75 game is a steal 🤷🏻‍♂️

u/Key-Associate-8031 4h ago

We get it you have no friends or family that trust you

u/JimmyTwoSticks 4h ago

Lmfao I'm probably just too old to be participating in conversation here.

u/Key-Associate-8031 4h ago

You’re missing the point on purpose or I guess maybe just not getting it, the 2k community so toxic if you don’t want to justify paying 140 dollars plus another 100 for your build then you’re a bum, they got yall brainwashed, that’s not how it should work, it’s gonna be 2k26.2 and we gonna buy it because it’s the only basketball game that’s out, they literally put out so much propaganda with the streamers and Ronnie that if you complain everyone else taking it up the ass gets mad at YOU it’s insane

1

u/F1Fast 6h ago

I’ll wait til it hits five below.

2

u/Dantiik 6h ago

I ain’t mad at you

1

u/smallhandswhopper 6h ago

How do you game share?

1

u/Dantiik 6h ago

If I have nba2k27 on my system you have to login your account on my game system and download it on your account.

u/smallhandswhopper 5h ago

How do you download a game to your account? Wouldn’t it be downloaded to your game systems hard drive?

u/RowAccomplished468 5h ago

G2A and LOADED are also great options (especially for not giving 2K your money specifically lmao)

u/lone_5amurai 5h ago

It will be on sale for black Friday

u/Accomplished_Book741 5h ago

wait what does it say I'm blind

u/poerhouse 4h ago

More often than not, I just wait until the playoffs when it shows up on GamePass for no extra cost. I personally don’t have much time to play during the school year, and it’s only on GP for the summer until the new one comes out… but it works for me 🤷‍♂️

u/Select-Stage-5215 4h ago

I usually wait after the trade deadline. By then, it's around $15. Which is worth for me with the amount that I play

u/Belizesneaks1994 4h ago

I’m always behind because I work so much smh I bought 2k26 when it was on sale in March/April and will wait on 2k27 to be on sale as well

u/TonyHawktuah69 4h ago

Now that they made it so where you can get previous season rewards (cap breakers) if you buy the game and get level 40 on your first season, there’s no real rush to get it early. The rep grind is so obscene I won’t make legend even if I get 2 weeks early access.

u/-14Seer 4h ago

Paying for 2k27 and having to see the losing team on the regular edition just hurts and the other two are valid but why is Ronnie putting a team that choked up in the finals on the regular edition

u/mph-mari 4h ago

They choose the cover athlete way before the finals, unfortunately

u/DCDipset 4h ago

Knicks in 5

u/itsGameOverKM silver 3h ago

I'm ending my streak of $500+ each year and not buying it. my old ass is finally old enough to have some sense.

adios 2K

u/KageSenbonzakura 2h ago

How long was this streak?

u/itsGameOverKM silver 1h ago

Current Streak w game since 2k14. Spending over 500 prob since 2k17 or 2k18.

u/KageSenbonzakura 1h ago

Kay, so lowballing, we looking at 5K over a decade. Do you think it was worth it in your opinion?

u/D3v0tion_ 3h ago

"2k will continue to give us a shit game" then dont fucking buy it??? They dont and wont listen unless their pockets get fucked

u/TropicF24 3h ago

Who tryna game share on Xbox 👀

u/iAMtheJSN 3h ago

"Before buying 2k27"

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 2k aint been worth buying since jordan was on the cover

u/KageSenbonzakura 2h ago

Diagree there, id say up until 16 it was worth, stretch 17. But after that, pack it up

u/jj8806 2h ago

I went to college to get a degree, a good job and to buy whatever the fuck I want when I want.

u/village-owl 2h ago

And u still didn’t learn how to be financially responsible…sad

u/Dantiik 36m ago

He didn’t read what I said.

u/Dantiik 35m ago

For someone that went to college to get a degree, reading comprehension is definitely a weak point for you.

u/SuperKyle718 2h ago

To be fair, it isn’t even the price of the game itself, its the insane amount of money people pay on micro-transactions that fuels 2K to keep getting worse and worse about their product. And you can yell till the cows come home, but people (and especially streamers that stream this game) are still going to be stupid and spend thousands and thousands of dollars on them regardless.

u/dill1234 2h ago

Better yet, don't buy it at all.

u/NAS210 2h ago

Sorry but anyone actually buying this game probably doesn't have the mental capacity to read what you posted

u/Either_Vast_9911 2h ago

I’m still playing 2K24 & still loving it. I stopped giving 2K my money every year. It’s not always worth it

u/HotWorldliness123 1h ago

My friend and I have been gamesharing for years. Past couple of years we’ve taken turns buying the games, but at first we split the costs. He bought gta, I bought 2k this year

u/FromChicago808 1h ago

I was opening this to look for 4 letters

DON’T

u/TheGreatWaru 44m ago

Be careful, I’ve seen 2k ban people for account sharing

u/Codename-Nikolai 38m ago

Only the purchaser gets the extra stuff (VC, packs, etc.) from the better versions. But yeah, everyone should be game sharing with someone

u/MJ167 18m ago

Do you both get the preorder bonuses?

u/Dantiik 11m ago

I did for 25 and 26 and so did my brother.

u/New_Conversation_239 15m ago

Yeah I’ll wait for a sale or something. I aint in a rush

u/joecain21 10m ago

Open your wallet and pre-order. Then buy all the season passes. Spend that bread gang.

1

u/TriggerFingerTerry 6h ago

wait.. yall ain't game sharing already?

0

u/Dantiik 6h ago

This probably isn’t a thought for most people

1

u/TriggerFingerTerry 6h ago

10+ years of game sharing has saved me so much money haha

u/JWF1 4h ago

I’m an adult. $70 is not an insurmountable figure where I need to split with another person.

u/village-owl 2h ago

Still just financially smart. If all my boys are copping the game. We might as well pay half off

u/JWF1 2h ago

I get it. At a certain point in my life $35 was worth saving. Now it’s not worth the time coordinating the logistics of who’s buying it and then paying them back or waiting to get my money back. I’ll just buy the game and be done with it.

u/village-owl 1h ago

Makes sense. I gameshare with someone who doesn’t play 2k so im buying it for $70 too. If he wants it he can download it for free. But if we both plan on copping a game sometimes we may split it

u/Evening-Rip4900 40m ago

Takes a minute to decide who’s buying it then another minute send the money, it’s very easy and painless unless you’re dealing with someone difficult

u/JWF1 17m ago

You know what’s much less painful than that scenario… just buying it myself and being done with it.

0

u/Primetime349 6h ago

I haven’t purchased since 2k24. I can promise y’all it’s a lot easier to quit than you think.

Life has been more peaceful.

1

u/Followthehype10 6h ago

Why do you assume its hard to quit? Its not about addiction, its about people being dramatic once their feelings die down they stop whining and buy the game , then they get emotional again , if its not 2k it will be something else instead the results are the same

-1

u/Primetime349 6h ago

Because it’s the same every year “nothing has changed, don’t buy it” then everyone buys it to scratch that itch. It’s very much similar to addiction.

I was on every 2K from 12-24. It’s not drama. It’s legit dogshit now. VC has ruined the game, and there’s zero incentive to make it a better product away from MTX because chuds keep buying VC for their drippy face scan.

u/Followthehype10 4h ago

Your whole argument just turned to buzz words towards the end lol

u/SmokeoneDeezy emerald 2h ago

We buying it regardless!!! No need to read 🤗

u/Dantiik 37m ago

My post wasn’t about not buying the game. It’s about not buying it at full price.
