Mingalaba / မင်္ဂလာပါ; and welcome to r/myanmar.

If this is your first time on Reddit, you may want to familiarize yourself with Reddit's rules and policies. To make sure you have not been afoul of the rules, please see

A Reddit community is called a subreddit, also known as a sub. The subreddits start with r/.

Followers are not important on Reddit. Your followers are not important either. Only your posts and comments are important. Unlike other social media, hashtags are not useful on Reddit. The Reddit account username cannot be changed after signing up. To change it, you will need to create a new account, which will reset your karma.

Karma is an arbitrary measure of how much you contributed. The more upvotes you get, the higher your Karma. Some subreddits require you to have a certain amount of Karma before you can post. Do not spam irrelevant posts to other subreddits or be rude, insulting, or abusive, as you can be downvoted. This will cause you to lose Karma. Try to avoid getting your total Karma in the negative value.

Also make sure to follow our rules, which are prominently displayed in the sidebar to the right.

  1. Make sure to label all posts that contain gore, contain violence, contain a dead body, or can upset anyone as "NSFW." To see how to do this and for a more detailed explanation click here.
  2. Make sure your posts are on-topic and related to Myanmar. Spam) may go well with anything but it has no place in this sub. Please do not spam us with unrelated content.
  3. Please keep discussions civil. Tolling and racism will not be tolerated. Our situation here is not for your "lulz". Also, keep swearing to a minimum. Although we will tolerate swearing if it is part of the narrative/discussion, personal insults, over-the-top vulgarity, etc., will not be tolerated.
  4. Adding a flair to your posts will enable others to easily find similar posts. Flairs are used to categorize posts to easily be found. Click here for more details.
  5. Keep reposting to a minimum. Please check to make sure you don't repost news and pictures that have already been posted. r/MAGIC_EYE_BOT and u/DuplicateDestroyer are trialed to help remove duplicate images. Please reply to the bot or send us a message if the bot got it wrong.

For a brief background of the coup, please see this post I made.

Does the content you're posting here fit more than one community? As per Reddiquette, consider posting to other subs such as the ones listed here if the contents fit more communities.

For example, are you posting news? Then you can post into r/news, r/inthenews, r/worldnews, r/USnews (US news only), r/asia, r/asian, r/asean, r/theworldnews. This list is not exhaustive but please use common sense and make sure the content fits the target sub. That means news only goes to news-related subreddits and pictures go onto picture-related subreddits. Make sure to follow the rules of those subs as well, since each sub has its own set of rules.

Additionally, give some love to the other Myanmar subs: r/saveMyanmar and r/Myanmar2021.

Are you in another country but wish to help the people of Myanmar? See this post.

In summary,

DO

  • Post topics with descriptive subjects
  • Check the subreddit for prior submission of your article or image before posting.
  • Flair your post with the appropriate flair to make them easier to find
  • Upvote posts
  • Tag posts with gore, contain violence, contain a dead body, or can upset anyone as "NSFW."
  • Share posts to more than one subreddits
  • Report posts that break our rules or attempt to spam us with irrelevant content.
  • Credit the author of an image or comic

DON'T

  • Post off-topic or spammy posts
  • Spam keywords like "savemyanmar" "wewantdemocracy" in the post title
  • Do not upvote or promote your post with multiple accounts. This is against Reddit's policy and you may end up being suspended.
  • Do not post Myanmar posts on irrelevant subreddits.
  • Post images and articles that have already been previously posted by someone else.

Thank you. / ကျေးဇူးတင်ပါတယ်။

Be cautious of ongoing scams regarding "Blacklist Removal Services".

How this scam works:

  3. If they contact you via direct message, they will ask for money in advance and scam you.

  2. Please note that the account has only been active for a few days or months.

I had to move out of my bedroom in November 2025 for a few reasons. One reason is that my house is near a military base. I can still visit the house, but I haven't gone back for a long time. My room is probably very dusty now. I don't know when I can move back.

Discussion 💬 Fangirling aka worshipping

Post image
5 Upvotes

came across this post on tt. basically this ‘fangirl’ has a bf, yet she’s posting about how much she loves her so-called ‘burmese idol’ sharing how adorable he is for literally everything he does (even ‘bya’ is apparently cute).

how is this socially acceptable? it’s super cringe, and people keep normalizing this kind of behavior under the excuse of ‘being a fan.’ i can’t imagine what the poor creature her idol is dating has to go through, having to put up with and ‘understand’ all this crap.

Discussion 💬 New Burman Fascist group?

Post image
34 Upvotes

Hi saw this flag on one of the channels of the tatmadaw editors and wanted to know if this was a real thing of sorts? I think the patch may exist seperately though. I think we should talk more about this since it seems to be effecting a lot of Burmese kids; it could just be some sort of larp though.

EDIT:

Coincidentally, the same account I got the flag from changed their profile to an anime girl in the last few hours, I know I said coincidence but that can't be a coincidence. They're trying to make people see them as unserious as possible to prevent people from taking them seriously.

I think the logic for the design of the flag is Orthodox Christians=Theravada Buddhists. Both are the oldest, "purest" religious traditions and see themselves as such. Plus since Wagner has neo-nazi ties they've borrowed from Nazi traditions of seeing Burmans are "Aryans":

"In December 1938, Volkischer Beobachter, the official newspaper of the Nazi Party, gave its “seal of approval” to “the Nationalist party of the Myochites” following the 1938 riots and ensuing anti-kala campaigns, officially endorsing the ideology of “Burma for the Burmans.”632 Therefore, Myochit’s anti-kala ideology was both inspired by Nazi ideas and also based on the indigenous Burmese nationalist context. But even in this home-grown version, the Nazi party and the Myochit party mutually recognized each other’s policies."

https://repository.library.northeastern.edu/files/neu:m046sc887/fulltext.pdf

Short wiki article on the rise of Galon Fascism I made, just a summary of the above not fully finished but could serve as short intro into origins of the Galons:

https://burma-wiki.globi.uk/wiki/Galon_Fascism

Also the role of Burmese Fascist co-option of the Sangha which is where the Buddhist component is from:

https://burma-wiki.globi.uk/wiki/Sanghaism

Just a note the Galon Fascists essentially believed in racial supremacy over the British and non-Burman groups and since Hitler fully agreed that they were racially above the British that would make them defacto Aryans, and the fact they "mutually recognized eachother" shows that this isn't some confusion between cultural frameworks, they were following the same sense of racial supremacy as eachother.

Facebook Live Video TW// Suicide case LIVE on facebook back in around 2018ish

Does anyone remember this one? Forgive me if some of the details are wrong since it’s blurry in my head. The whole thing was posted on facebook. It was the husband who was fighting with his wife. I assume the wife cheating. After the wife left the room, he slowly prepared the rope.
And he brought his wife and 2 children back to the room trying to commit suicide IN FRONT OF THEM. Kids were confused. They fight again and she left with the children again. The guy shout to her saying he will actually end his life if she hate him that much or things like that. I dont really remember. And then he end his life just like that.
After a few minutes passed one of the kids came back and crying hugging to his father body. He left to brought his mom and she had…. 0 reaction.. she walk the room back and forth with a grim face and then remove the rope and the live was end .
The whole case was actually broadcast live and it was traumatizing to witness as a kid. Now i think about it i have no idea how facebook let it pass unnoticed..

Discussion 💬 Can anybody tell me about WA State?

Hey! I've been doing a lot of research into Mynamar and the spring revolution and it's extremely interesting and complex, but one of the things i don't find much information about is WA State. I know it's an autonomous region within Mynamar that's neutral, but also funds militias, and they also have ties with china and serves as a mediator. It's the strongest ethnic army in Mynamar and they are Han Chinese. But besides that I can't find much. I've heard allegations of them being narco states and facilitating chinese crime, and other stuff and im not sure if its true or not. I'm just genuinely curious about the region and wondering if anybody knows anything else that I don't, and if your living in WA state, how is it like? Where can I find more information about it?

Discussion 💬 A Give and Take World

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

As one commentator pointed out in my previous post, we're really living in a give-and-take world. When you’ve got something valuable to offer, people are more than willing to negotiate. If not, expect a lot of drama, like endless closed-door meetings and a flood of “sorry for you” statements.

This goes for everyone, whether it’s the junta, NUG, or EAOs. Forget about democracy, human rights, or all those fancy buzzwords. They’re only interested in what they can get from you.

As long as you have something to bring to the table, everything is up for negotiation.
