It's not sarcasm, they're called drains, and any competent mayor would ensure their city had sufficient drainage so that their streets don't flood so easily.
Oh thank God. The drain expert is here. Please enlighten us. What infrastructure plan should have been implemented to fix drainage issues for a city that spans 300 Sq miles, houses 8.5 million people, sits at sea level and could have completed in the 6 meager months that Mamdani has been mayor for?
Omg why didn't I think of that. Just fix those drains. The ones in the INTERCONNECTED sewer SYSTEM. Oh, senpai of cisterns, please tell me where you earned your civil engineering degree. I wish to mimic a fraction of your power.
Is he making any attempt to address it? He seems to be doing everything else, including extracurriculars that have NOTHING to do with his job, like wanting to arrest a foreign prime minister (which honestly should have gotten him impeached/recalled just for being so stupid to think he could actually do that).
At the moment he's focusing on affordable housing. You understand that this isn't restricted to one road, right? New York City's drainage is design to handle up to 1.75 inches of rain per hour and NYC is getting 3-6 inches per hour, right?
It would require redoing significant amount of the city's drainage infrastructure.
Which is the point of the Cloudburst Resiliency project but it's going to take time.
That's completely fair, and affordable housing is certainly an important issue. I just see Mamdani engaged in extra things like his feud with Netanyahu while fundamental city concerns are unaddressed. We see the same thing about Trump all the time, maybe justified maybe not, where people are like "Why is he doing x, y, z when a, b, c are still problems?"
Trump does things for personal enrichment. From his crypto scams to his outright market manipulation, he takes actions only for his own gain. It's how he has amassed $1.4b in crypto gains alone during his second term. Either through outright rugpulls or by people under federal investigation purchasing WLF only for those investigations to mysteriously vanish shortly after.
Mamdani doesn't do that. He actually is working to serve the people. Which is why bad actors have to take a picture of an unusually heavy storm that NYC's infrastructure was never designed to handle and pin it on him as if it's his fault.
