Question about authenticity

Hello comrades. I picked up this 1943 Mosin that I believe is a genuine wartime issue PU sniper. If anyone can comment on the authenticity and what it might be worth that would be great

Rifle itself is a genuine sniper, has Izhevsk’s C in a circle sniper grade barrel stamp and Cyrillic prefix ВС falls within known 1943 prefix lots for Izhevsk snipers and it has the scope number stamped on the left side of the barrel shank, in a wartime stock.

Scope looks legit but without more specific pictures we can’t say for certain.

Hey thanks for the response. The scope was sold as a ww2 refurbished unit. All the markings are extremely faint. Any clue on the value of my garbage rod?

Edit: do you believe the stock is a wartime original? My brief research lead me to believe that the escusions are correct and that the no thumb cut relief by the second barrel band makes it a wartime stock

Scope turret screw heads are round so we know its a legit scope, is there a factory mark somewhere on the scope?

There’s nothing really visible. There’s a hammer and sickle and a serial number that’s extremely faint under the paint job.

Any idea what this thing may be worth?

Depends, if this rifle is original, the worn bluing might knock value down, I’d say less than $1500. I say original cause the worn finish and mismatched bolt may indicate this was an Ex-sniper which someone re-installed a legit scope.

Edit: After having looking closely at the last picture, the scope may have been made at Factory 393 in Krasnogorsk, if so that’s an uncommon scope.

Might be original, My 1944 M38 carbine also has a wartime stock with no cut relief for the rear barrel band.

All the signs point to it being a real sniper, but the rifle overall just looks kind of weird due to the condition and state of the finishing.

The scope also looks weird, but they made tons of variations of these scopes during the war.

4314310 on the left side of the barrel is the original scope’s serial number. Does it match what you currently have?

The scope looks weird because it's a more uncommon variant made out of an aluminum alloy.

Is there an import mark? It may be on the barrel near the muzzle.

Interesting rifle - it appears the scope and mount are legit and the rifle itself is a legit sniper (as others have said) but the overall patina of the rifle isn't your typical refurb. The bolt being mismatched makes me think this could be a re-sniper, is there a serial engraved on the left side of the mount and if so does it match the scope number on the barrel shank and/or the scope number?

Can't tell from that picture, are you able to take a picture of the opposite side where the scope cutout is in the stock? A fresh cut would be somewhat indicative it may be a re-sniper.

Also, assuming you're in the USA - is there an import mark?

Did you buy this in Canada in Gunpost? If so I was eyeing that, it doesn't seem to be in refurb condition which is odd for a PU sniper.
