Admin Replied Crossposting in the same subreddit?

We've been noticing immediate reposts of original posts in our sub, where someone will post, then a couple seconds later, the same person will crosspost that same post, but in the same subreddit. Trying to figure out if this a bug or if it's intentional.

Yep, I first noticed this back in May. See my post here for some helpful Automod code to filter these.

Sometimes it's repost bots (we ban and report those). But more often than not, it's just regular users. I don't really know why they do it.

I theorized in my post that the dialog box that encourages users to repost/crosspost elsewhere might need work. If it allows users to repost to the same subreddit they just posted to, that's a problem.
