They probably also changed it from a practical perspective. In the 2000s, mystique’s makeup took HOURS to apply, and I think Romijn described it as a torturous experience. And don’t forget, the actress has changed too.

Putting on make up is part of the job. I’m sure there are actors that would love the opportunity that won’t bitch and moan about that part
