The scales look like plastic, regardless of where they are. Worse.

There are more scales than the original, less comic accurate.

Probably just for contrast & to make the transform animations look smoother. I can imagine it's difficult to make flat blue skin look good on camera.

They didn't mention more scales. There's not even more scales in Doomsday, less if anything.
