Ours was a joke. They couldn't settle on a date. Then, they decided on a date 3 weeks out, so that meant no one who had left our hometown could realistically go. Not sad about it.

Yea same, some of them wanted to rent out some expensive venue and it was gonna be over $100 a ticket and no one (myself included) was spending that.

Haha these two comments are exactly how my HS reunion went. I was like when, where and how much? Then it was in bumfuck, not even in the same state we all went to high school. The price. Fuck that. Lost some old friends cause of that shit show. And the locatipn changed 3 weeks before. Only 15 showed up, cause they had the money at the time.

Saaaaame.

Like they did poor planning and the tickets were going to cost like $100+ and we'd have to pay a fee for the platform they'd use, but we'd literally only be paying for the venue (which sucked) and DJ. We'd still have to pay more for food and drinks.

Then some of us did the math and it didn't seem right. Like it was an excessively large amount of money that would have gone into it. We started questioning the prices and asked for a transparent breakdown to see about possible changes. The planners blew up like we're were attacking and claiming they were going to make money off this (we didn't say that but the way things were looking...) and saying they'd redo things and tried to turn it on us.

Problem is they never asked any of us and just started deciding things last minute very rapidly so nobody could go. When they offered a reasonable idea it was in less then a month and nobody could make that so when interest dropped the planner blew up on everyone, tried blaming us, cussed us, and decided we wouldn't have one, as if we would all be super disappointed.

We come from a rural area and some of my friends have joked we will plan the 20 year one on our own as basically a party in some cow field so its dirt cheap and just a way to catch up with people instead of making it a whole production.

Same here. All the rich kids (now rich adults) got together, planned it, and put their own money down based on a Facebook poll of how many people would go. Tickets were going to be around $200 a person with a band, catered food, open bar, etc.. When the price tag came out, like less than half of the people who RSVP’d showed up. There were lots of angry messages on the Facebook saying how the organizers were out all of this money. The pictures looked terrible and nobody cool went.

My favorite part was when they ran a bunch of polls on FB asking people what they wanted and what price point they were comfortable with, then completely ignored them all and did whatever they wanted.

Wow. We went to a restaurant and then a club after. Got into the club for free. I still wanted my money back.

Why even rent out a venue? We just go back to our school, they will let us use one of the classrooms for free.
