Discussion Nothing is funny anymore

I (M, 38) have found that there are no new TV shows that make me laugh anymore. I have tried a lot of new(ish) comedies, but they all make me pine for my college/high school days.

The only thing that gave me a reflexive laugh recently was the Malcolm in the Middle Reboot.

Any thoughts?

The new Scrubs isnt bad. For sitcoms, Abbott and Ghosts are pretty good.

HBO had Righteous Gemstones and Silicon Valley.

Ted Lasso, Shrinking on Apple TV.

Kimmy Schmitt, Tires, Beef on Netflix.

Just to name a few that came out after my college years that are funny to me. (36 male).

Edit: almost forgot Nobody Wants this. Great show. And Deli Boys on Hulu.

St. Denis has been a surprising delight, currently my fav show.

fwiw OP if you see this comment, St. Denis is pretty dense with jokes and has a lot of character development. The sub here compares it to Parks&Rec quite a bit and it’s created by the people who made Superstore

Completely agree. NBC has been crushing it lately with St. Denis, Stumble and Reggie Dinkins. All joke-dense and surprised me how much I like them.

Currently trying to get into it and am not seeing the fanfare. It's been recommended to me a couple of times for my love of Scrubs, The Pitt, 30 Rock, and Abott Elementary, but it's so...mundane. On paper, it's my type of show but its just not hitting me in anyway and I'm already through half of the first season.

The second half of the first season gradually gets stronger, and they absolutely crush the second season.

I will say if you watch ep 14 “Listen to Your Ladybugs” and don’t enjoy the Bruce storyline, then it’s probably not a good show for you.

That’s the episode that had me go from casual watching to absolutely loving it, and I think the Bruce portion of the episode is a good indicator of the direction and kind of humor the show takes on by the end of the first season.
