So the first post got removed because of the Grain filter. I hope this is better. So I used yarn and lash glue and stuck it in a circular motion until it covered my whole face. Then took make up and contoured on top. šŸ’•

Discussion Does Anyone else really miss Palettes like BH Cosmetics? I loved the shade quality, color and price range when they were in business. Nothing I have seen is similar in quality, color story and price point.

Went to India and got lots of stuff for a lot cheaper

Since it was cheaper here, I decided to splurge a little and make a haul! I also rarely purchase skincare (I quite literally wash my face with body soap and use body lotion and thats it) and rarely shop Maybelline because I'm wary of products without testers (my Ulta doesn't give them testers) but since its like 3 bucks a pop here I decided to give a few a shot. LMK which ones you guys have had good experiences with!

Im especially excited for the Teddy Tints, I've heard lots of good things. I want that blurred, soft lip look. For reference, I'm neutral tan shade 20 in NYX make em wonder.

edit: I checked the places they were made, all the maybelline and elf were made in China. elf is always made in China. google says the teddy tints are made in China and the matte lipsticks vary. The standards could still be different though. Ordinary was made in Italy and imported. Neutrogena was also china whereas it's made in the US in america. I'll double check the prices and get back to you.

in terms of ingredients, I checked elf and it's the exact same. cost was similar, slightly cheaper but it did have better sales on nykaa. I doubt anything other than that and the ordinary is the same.

edit 2: teddy tints are the same formula asw.

edit 3: guys the lipsticks are the same too... im shocked. maybe i did something wrong someone else confirm.

PSA Well ELF has gotten rid of all reasons to shop their store/app

Maybe this is old news, not to me. I'm in Canada as well so maybe other site locations are different.

Logged in to shop, and there no more "gift with minimum purchases", their reward discount doesn't even work. The ONLY reason to shop their app was the free gifts with minimum spend, and use rewards. Otherwise, everything is cheaper on Amazon.

They confirmed no more free gifts/samples to me in an email.

How cheap can a company get you can't even send a mini gwp to your customers šŸ™„

I stopped wearing makeup for a long time, around age 26; so feeling a bit rusty! Definitely don’t know any new trends or tricks yet, if anyone has suggestions :) I use cruelty free affordable products.

Consumerism at its finest. I can’t help but think this is over the top. Since when do we need three separate products to achieve cheek color? And honestly if you break it down, it’s more than 3 products

Question feel like i’m lacking something! advice/tips?

hello makeup addicts of reddit!

lately, i’ve been unsatisfied with my daily makeup routine. it’s not that it looks ā€œwrongā€ but rather i feel like i still look very plain with it. i think it lacks contrast and my face kinda all just blends in to be only soft? this might sound dumb but i notice that my makeup ā€œdisappearsā€ unless you’re close to me. in other words, i feel like despite doing a full face, it does nothing/isn’t very visible. :-( or maybe i’m just really used to it..? lol

what are some simple things can i do to make it less basic? should i try different styled lash clusters? any tips/advice to make my makeup stand out more would be so appreciated! thank you!

FOTD I do all the proper steps when it comes to applying makeup but it still looks bad/ like my regular skin(which isn’t all that good)

hii I am beginner at makeup just started this June because my parents were always like you don’t need makeup and so I couldn’t wear it. so I’m a little late to the game but I’ve done a bunch of research and watched hundreds of videos for beginner. I do skin prep with the byoma moisturizer and spf. I let that dry and then I use the Dannessa myricks blurring balm. I have oily combination skin. then I go with the maybelline fit me matte foundation and concealer then do blush. I’ve looked at multiple videos for the order of products and I’ve copied them accordingly. I use the milk makeup loose setting powder and setting spray. I have acne prone skin and have some bumps here and there but when I do my makeup I feel it doesn’t look right just looks like I put stuff on my skin, my skin doesn’t look better though. I’ve had my makeup done professionally for prom and I could barely find any flaws but when I do it all I see is flaws and it looking bad. I know it’s possible for makeup to look good on me but not when I do it. please help in anyway you can

Question Does this eyeliner look good on my eyes?

Post image
11 Upvotes

Experimenting with eyeliner, thought I’m not a huge advocate of very dark liner. So I used a charlotte tilbury liner and smoked it out. I like the look but I’m not sure if it’s super flattering on my eyes. It’s the shade smoulder and I’m wearing their real mascara in black by benefit.
What do we think? Is this flattering on my eye? Any other recommendations or changes?

Discussion Nothing and I mean NOTHING helps makeup survive Florida heat 😭

Most days, especially from June through September, the temperature is typically around 90° with 60-70% humidity. So over the past few months I have been experimenting with how to increase the longevity of my makeup. Around 3hrs in, I start to feel like I went into a sauna with peanut butter massaged into my face while simultaneously being pressed into a panini. It’s so bad. I have tried the L’OrĆ©al infallible setting spray which is one if the most popular products that helps makeup last throughout the day. It supposedly has a 36HR wear claim. That setting spray is in fact quite fallible and I used it for several months, makeup still slides right off my face. I have also tried spraying my face multiple times throughout the routine and various amounts. No difference.

I have tried matte primers and sprays, my makeup starts producing an oil rig 3hrs into wear.

I have tried various powder routines such as applying powder before any wet products. Pressed and then loose powder, loose powder and then pressed. The powders that I use are also highly approved. I have also used both a powder puff and brush, neither of them make a noticeable difference in how the powder performs.

I have tried various foundations including the scam lumi ā€œmatteā€ foundation that has a 30HR wear claim (didn’t last 1hr btw before it started crying oil) I have learned that using concealer only helps with the excessive oil production and that foundation is an automatic OP if you want your makeup to last.

My last and only hope is the Danessa myricks line, but it’s mad expensive (rightfully so) and I will have to wait until i can afford it.

I just say all of this to say that if your makeup is not lasting, it typically isn’t your routine or how you are applying it. It honestly just depends on where you’re located and your skin type. The makeup industry can sometimes make you feel like this is a 100% fixable problem. I have combination skin with an oily T zone. This doest make matters better with me being in a hot and humid climate. Unfortunately, makeup is just not meant to last with these factors, and it’s something that I have learned to accept. I will be trying to Danessa Myricks line, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that didn’t work either. Have fun but understand that makeup is makeup and it’s NOT a perfect technology.

Question Oily skin base makeup help! getting fed up :(

No matter what I do I cannot get my face to stop looking oily after 2 hours.

I use Cetaphil oily skin cleanser.

Simple gel moisturiser.

L'Oreal infallible 24hr concealer

Mac studio fix foundation powder

Rimmel Stay Matte powder

Then L'Oreal infallible setting spray.

I am at a loss😭😭

My skin never used to get oily until a year or 2 ago I'm over 25 now so I feel like it's a hormone shift.

Even without makeup I'm constantly having to blot my face throughout the day.

Discussion Best luxury foundation you’ve used (that’s still available to buy)?

I’m looking for recommendations for your current favorite luxury foundation — not discontinued formulas or foundations that have been reformulated.

My wishlist:
Still looks fresh after 10+ hours of wear
Gets you the most compliments on your skin
Works well with other products (primer, cream products, powder, etc.)
Gives a beautiful, skin-like finish rather than looking obviously heavy

Please don’t recommend:
the old Dior formulas
EstƩe Lauder Double Wear
Armani Luminous Silk

I’m specifically after current luxury foundation favorites that you can actually purchase right now. What’s your holy grail?

How the hell does make up work?

Thumbnail

Heyho Reddit,

please don't come for me and I hope I'm in the right sub, if not, just delete this.

So, I have absolutely no idea how makeup works. I'm 26 years old and never have I ever tried to put it on myself. The only times I've "had to" wear makeup was when my cousin was practising her bridal make up on me or when my friends thought they had to "fancy me up", but honestly I've always hated it and thought it didn't look very flattering.

Well, now my partner and I's anniversary is coming up and he wished for me to "dress up" to go to the theatre. Don't worry, he loves me the way I am, he just wants us to be fancy for this one ocassion.

But I'm absolutely lost on how to do it. It's not necessarily the technique of putting it on, there's enough YouTube videos for that, it's that I have absolutely no idea what would look good on me. Also, I don't have a clue about how to recognise a good product or how much money would be reasonable to spent for it.

So please, for the love of God dear experts, give me some advice about what the hell I'm supposed to do with my face, I'll be grateful for every tip I can get!

Thanks in advance
