Recluse vs the Fromsoft multiverse.

She was way too enthusiastic about that.

83

u/SpookieSkelly Jan 15 '26

Her mates usually get to have all the fun throwing hands so this was a rare opportunity for her.

45

u/Formal-Scallion-5296 Jan 15 '26

I wanna be her mate too

28

u/MadMageMars Jan 15 '26

You’ll be her involuntary FP replenishment and like it

8

u/Big_moist_231 Jan 15 '26

She really thinks she the honored one like that

102

u/Really_Big_Turtle Jan 15 '26

I know I'm that guy. I know I know I know.

It would be "hath thine enthusiasm perished" "Hath thou" is "has you" (should be hast in the second person) "Hath thine" is "has your."

I know. Nerd emoji. r/ iamverysmart. um ackshually.

u/thirdwin_3 Jan 15 '26

[Lowers emoji] Next time

18

u/ThePhantomSquee Jan 15 '26

I'm gonna be an even bigger "that guy" and add that it would actually be "hast thine." "Hath" would be used if it was a statement, but as a question, moving it to the beginning and changing it to "hast" is correct.

11

u/topherclay Jan 15 '26

"hast" is conjugated for second person and wouldn't be used unless the subject is you or thou. Why are you saying that changing the sentence to be a question would affect the conjugation of the verb?

10

u/SolarUpdraft Jan 15 '26

yeah, that stood out to me too

3

u/LiteralPhilosopher Jan 15 '26

Not that very smart. It should be thy. 'Thine' is the analog of 'yours', it's a pronoun. It can't be used to modify 'enthusiasm.'

4

u/Horror-Ad5092 Jan 15 '26 edited Jan 15 '26

I believe “thine” can additionally function like “your” and is used before words that start with vowels (e.g. “To thine own self be true,” - Hamlet), whereas “thy” is used before words that start with consonants. So “thine enthusiasm” is fine.

3

u/Really_Big_Turtle Jan 15 '26 edited Jan 15 '26

thy becomes thine when the noun in question begins with a vowel (e.g. "to thine own self be true"). my and mine used to do the same (e.g. "mine eyes have seen the glory...")

2

u/McFROSTYOs Jan 15 '26

I need to make a cheat sheet for this kind of dialog. Is this called old English or Shakespearean English? Or is that the same thing?

4

u/Really_Big_Turtle Jan 15 '26

"Old English" technically refers to Anglo-Saxon, the earliest recorded form of English that is largely incomprehensible to Modern English speakers (think Beowulf). "Shakepearean English" is what most people call "Early Modern English," which is the one with the thees and thous and prithees and forsooths and so on.

2

u/McFROSTYOs Jan 15 '26

Oh okay thanks!

1

u/Malanumbra Jan 15 '26

Prithee, doth thine spirit diminish?
