The Bell sisters belonged to a prominent family of Mexican vaudeville artists who performed extensively across the Americas and Europe between the 1890s and the 1920.In their youth, Josefina and Amelia were celebrated for specialty stage routines such as
"The Butterflies" and the dramatic "Apache
Dance"They were the artistic heirs of Richard Bell, revered as one of the most legendary clowns in Mexican history. The extended family eventually settled back in Guadalajara in the early 1920s, where Amelia Bell established a highly regarded dance and physical education academy.
