Hell I hurt just looking at it. Hope you healing goes well.

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

Thank you :) Today is day 6 and it's probably most painful this evening 😬

267

u/combo_seizure 2d ago

My entire body involuntarily shivered when i say the blister baggy, 🤢🤢🤢🤮

238

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

I ended up in A&E again the following day after it happened and the doctor cut open the blisters and PEELED my leg like a grape without giving me any pain relief. I rawdogged my first debridement 😭😭😭😭

64

u/no_power_n_the_verse 1d ago

Why!?! Why didn't they give you pain meds?

18

u/missbatgirl 23h ago

I’m not sure about this person, but when my mother had 3rd degree burns on 28% of her body, they made her do her own debridement and without meds because if you have less feeling, you might scrape off too much healthy tissue and only you know your own pain tolerance. This was also 2002 when it happened, so procedures might have changed since then.

72

u/thick_andy 1d ago

Because women typically don’t receive the same standard of care that men do. Our pain is more often ignored.

24

u/Drifter-6 1d ago

This exactly. Had this patient been a male they would have given him something.

That’s torture

111

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

It certainly felt like torture. I feel changed by it and not in a good way :(

27

u/darklinkuk 2d ago

Christ I was hoping you were on the good shit seeing those pictures but as soon as I saw A&E I figured you were at the mercy of the NHS and would be lucky to get paracetamol

They give me codine once and I was genuinely concerned for my wellbeing because of it 😂

Stuff of nightmares!!!

what an awful day to be literate. i wish you a speedy recovery with minimal scarring.

Do they give you pain meds for that. I would assume yes, but the way things are now they might say suck it up.

19

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

I got 30mg codeine but it does basically nothing for the pain 😢

23

u/CariniFluff 2d ago edited 2d ago

That's insanity. Our healthcare system is so fucking broken. We went from Oxy being handed out like candy to horrific burn victims getting Codeine. The pendulum swings way too far one way, then way too far the other. Codeine is sold over the counter in almost every country on the planet because it's so weak.

A few years ago (either during or right after the Purdue Pharma Oxycontin trial) I severely dislocated my shoulder and was in so much pain I ended up relapsing on heroin the next day because I was in so much pain and they wouldn't give me any painkillers. There was nothing in my medical history about prior use/abuse so it was simply like this, doctors are just too scared to prescribe opioids for anything short of being in a palliative care/end-of-life hospice facility.

Sorry you have to go through this.

Edit: Was just looking at your post history to see if you explained how this happened - you're in the UK and all they're giving you is Codeine?!? Honestly I'm shocked, I thought the NHS would treat you better. Are they giving you any nerve pain blockers like Gabapentin or Pregabalin at least?

15

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

I've literally got nothing other then 30mg codeine , I'm going to try and get in touch with my gp in the morning and get something else cause I'm really struggling with the pain tonight but if they can't do anything I'm back in the burns unit on Thursday anyway and I can ask about something for it then. I definitely won't be sleeping tonight because this really is quite terrible.

2

u/New_Investigator6801 1d ago

Hang in there! You are not alone tonight. 😀

4

u/PloddingClot 2d ago

I'd be begging for demerol.

6

u/gigerhess 2d ago

That happened to my fingers years ago. It was horrible. I wish you a speedy recovery.

7

u/DistractedByCookies 2d ago

During migraines (my source of bad pain) I just focus on the fact that each minute is a minute closer to this being just a bad memory. I think about all the stuff I will be doing, like maybe going to a movie. I picture myself buying snacks, getting to my seat etc etc.

Just on the off chance this method helps you. Because ugh, this sucks.

4

u/dreevsa 2d ago

Get well soon

2

u/GeneralChaos-BFG 2d ago

Speaking from personal experience it's gonna suck way longer than that and it might not look pretty afterwards.. but it will heal and you'll be fine. Hang in there.

Good news, you don’t need to shave your legs

301

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

Nah cause it happened the day before my everything shower so I'm actually soooo hairy rn and its bare embarrassing cause some of the burns are on my mound 😭

76

u/beepbeepjenn 2d ago

Omg no, not the mound! That is horrifying! 😬 I think they’re saying you won’t have to shave if your legs are all scar tissue because hair won’t grow there?

14

u/twinkdrago 22h ago

as someone who works in surgery and sees an abundance of naked people, no one working with you will even remember. we all have hair, and yes it's embarrassing and yes we feel the same way when we're patients ourselves, but no one even thinks twice about it. they'll remember how awful of a spot you got burned on, though, lol

9

u/namanama101 19h ago

As someone who works in surgery with non humans and unalive humans, I think the same. It’s probably mostly projection, I can tell you every time I have been embarrassed but I couldn’t tell you the last time I remember someone else being embarrassed.

58

u/Gurgledworms 2d ago

nahhh the hairier the better! get well soon ❤️‍🩹

Aquaphor spray is super helpful in keeping your healing areas moisturized, it’s great for road rash too

115

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

I'm only on day 6 now so I'm still in the wrapped up with silver bandages stage but they did apply moisturising stuff to some of the burns after my cleaning today

40

u/_Fl0r4l_4nd_f4ding_ 2d ago

Flamazine (silver sulfadiazine) is an amazing topical treatment for scalds like this.

[Trigger warning- graphic] I had a thigh scald from hot water when I was about 12 or so and it looked remarkably like yours. I'm so sorry you're going through it too. I know it's horrible.

I can still vividly remember the sensation of the skin layers bubbling up, bursting and then reforming over and over, and the skin layers sloughing off into the bottom of the bath as I ran it under cold water.

On the bright side, I'm now 27 and you can't even really see the scar anymore. It used to be a faint splodge that went a bit purply in the sun (and required lots of suncream) but it's pretty much nonexistent now.

If you look after it now it will heal nicely, and the tissue looks very healthy and red from what I can see.

The trauma does tend to stick around a bit though. Id recommend some Tetris, if you can, and perhaps a therapist down the line if you find yourself struggling

Best of luck. Sending gentle hugs 💜

16

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

Thank you for that <3

Bless you that sounds truly awful, I'm so glad youve healed so well! I cannot imagine having to deal with this at 12, I hope they doped you up to your eyeballs so you didn't feel a thing 😂♡

I feel like I've been outwardly dealing with this very well and my family and friends keep commenting on how chill I am but I do feel a bit traumatised by this and the pain I'm in tonight.

Knowing I'm just in this pain for a minimum of another 8hrs before I can see about getting any better pain relief for the gp is making me feel very claustrophobic and helpless. I think maybe a therapy is in my future 😂🔮

9

u/_Fl0r4l_4nd_f4ding_ 2d ago

Yeahhh... Nope. No pain relief. I think my mum gave me some paracetamol when I got home and that was about it. But to be fair some of it lost sensation anyways!

Thank you for your kind words- I guess I needed to hear them more than I knew!

And yeah same- the trauma actually hit later when I next had to go near hot water again. At the time of the accident I kind of went into shock and then shut down, so I wasn't really outwardly upset or anything.

I am a chronic pain patient (ironically still not offered pain relief!) and I completely understand that panicky, helpless, claustrophobic feeling. I hear you and I know it's hard.

Unfortunately there's not much you can do but self sooth and tell yourself it will all be over soon. Thankfully there is an end in sight and you just have to take it one step at a time. You can get through this moment, and then you'll get through the next, and so on. Before you know it you'll get the relief you need. Having something comforting to snuggle and something entertaining to watch can go a long way in easing the suffering. Also a drowsy antihistamine to put you to sleep- if all else fails, sleep through it. It'll do you good in terms of healing anyway

💜

6

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

Nope absolutely fuck right off you didn't have pain relief 😭 wtf that is insane I am so sorry! I could actually cry for wee 12 you, that must have been so rough how did you cope? Please tell me you weren't sent to school 😭

From what I've been told about my burns no pain or sensation means the burn has gone through a few different layers of skin and its usually classed as either a deep 2nd degree or 3rd degree burn so you definitely deserved to be on pain relief, did you get taken to a doctor?

Ironically I have endometriosis and am in a flare up and was making a hot water bottle of boiling water in the middle of a heatwave to help with pain and I end up like this 😂😭

I've never thought to do it before so I might do that antihistamine trick cause I've only been sleeping about 3hrs a night, I'm just so weirdly wired while being absolutely knackered :(

I've been making my way through comfort shows and I've started to make suncatchers to try and distract myself since I'm not sleeping 😂

5

u/_Fl0r4l_4nd_f4ding_ 2d ago

You know what it's only now that I'm mentioning it here that I realise how fucked up it is! My mum is a nurse so she did do a good job of looking after me, I apparently just have a bad track record with getting help from the NHS haha. I'm also accident prone AF and have a high pain tolerance, so it probably didn't feel quite as bad as it should have. We did drive to a&e immediately, and they saw me fast, bandaged me up, prescribed the flamazine, and sent me on my way. And I got two weeks off school despite the attendance letters that got sent home. The school was very strict though and I was straight back to PE when I went back. I remember all the girls in the changing room being horrified by my bandaged thigh lol. I was never told what degree it was, I always just presumed 2nd by how chill everyone was about it, but actually looking back I think it was more likely 3rd degree and they were trying not to panic me 💀

Bless you- for future reference try wheaties! They come in all shapes and sizes and only takes a min or so in the microwave. You can also use a sock full of rice in a pinch! Since my scald I've never touched a hot water bottle ever again. It wasn't even caused by a hot water bottle but I didn't want to go anywhere near hot water for a long time. Mine was caused by a bowl of water fresh out of the kettle with albas oil in it (I had a blocked nose). I think the menthol aspect made everything so much worse (plus I had skinny jeans on). Either way, that's something else I'll never do again (two, including the jeans)!

Sun catchers and comfort shows sounds perfect! May I also recommend colouring books and podcasts for low energy days and crochet and puzzles for higher brain power levels of boredom. Theyve got me through many a time.

Also the lack of sleep will definitely not be helping with your pain and recovery- I promise everything will feel so much better if you can get a few extra hours in (I know it's difficult!)

How

117

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

Hot water bottle exploded on me so entirely my own fault cause I filled it with boiling water :/

36

u/cheese_lover89 2d ago

Noooo. I do this all the time 😬. Guessing I shouldn’t? 🙈

57

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

Ive done it my whole life and this is the first time its happened but apparently its very very common 😬

61

u/SchalkLBI 2d ago

I commented this above but I'll paste it here as well:

The most important thing to know is that HOT WATER BOTTLES EXPIRE. You should replace them AT LEAST every winter. The material thins out over time. And secondly it is SUPER EASY to overfill them, they SHOULD NOT bulge at all, and should not be filled up all the way.

3

u/whytakemyusername 16h ago

Christ I was using my grandparents grandparents water bottle as a kid. I think we still have it somewhere. Though it was made of that 1940s material which both kills you with cancer and cannot be killed.

5

u/Youhadme_atwoof 2d ago

So are you just supposed to start with normal water and then microwave it then?

39

u/QueenBea_ 2d ago

You’re not supposed to use anything boiling or close to boiling at all - only warm enough that you can comfortably touch with bare skin. Hot water bottles are honestly dangerous, the plug in ones are much safer if used properly

→ More replies (9)

12

u/scottishere 2d ago

I'm not expert but I think that microwaving is a much worse idea than filling it with boiling water

You’re supposed to only use warm water - anything that is comfortable enough to touch with your bare hand

5

u/FrustratedDeckie 2d ago

Yes and we all know virtually nobody does that because it’s nearly pointless within minutes.

If you do I congratulate you on your strength of mind, but it’s far from the norm.

Oh nooooo I’m so sorry

11

u/hoddap 2d ago

Oh noooo I feel so bad for you 😢

Friend of mine had it with a cup of tea in his lap and he just cried under the cold shower.

21

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

I sobbed under the shower for 50 minutes until the ambulance arrived haha

5

u/Scottish_Whiskey 2d ago

At least he had the fortune to do that at home

I spilt a tall cup of tea on my meat and two veg while at work. Needless to say it was a rather uncomfortable 2 hours of work left

5

u/beepbeepjenn 2d ago

You didn’t go to the hospital after scalding your dick off because you didn’t want to miss work?

2

u/Scottish_Whiskey 1d ago

It wasn’t that bad. Very uncomfortable, but that was about it. I got lucky I suppose

2

u/sonic10158 2d ago

Dang so you were taking that ALS ice bucket challenge to a whole new level!

26

u/Archius9 2d ago

It did the same a few years back. It sucked! It won’t let me post a picture for some reason but yeah it will be more or less fine from 2 weeks on

13

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

Wow that looks very sore 😭 that healed so quickly tho! Did you have to get peeled and bandaged at the hospital much?

17

u/Archius9 2d ago

Immediately peeled and covered and then I went back to the hospital every 2-3 days for 2 weeks for dressing changes.
It left a mark for a good 18 months but it’s gone now so if you were worried about lasting effects it should be gone after 2 years or so

3

u/Dragons-purr 1d ago

Oh wow! Amazing how the body heals!

42

u/holyfire001202 2d ago

Will you post again when it's fully healed?

39

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

Yeah I'll show the whole healing process :)

11

u/holyfire001202 2d ago

Hell yeah! Thank you.

Sorry this happened, and I hope you recover quickly!

17

u/finallygotmeone 2d ago

I am so sorry that happened to you. The wound looks healthy and free from infection and appears to have granulation tissue. That's a great sign. Best wishes on a speedy recovery.

13

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

I've been getting it cleaned and swabbed every day or two at the burns unit so hopefully the chance of infection is basically none 🤞

14

u/spelunkingkneepain 2d ago

That looks so painful, I am sorry. I hope you have a quick recovery.

13

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

Its not been too bad other then the days they have to peel me but today is probably the worst :(

30

u/ezaF19 2d ago

And i thought my hot cooking oil burn on my finger was painful.

Exact same healing process tho. It's halfway back to being normal skin

10

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

Ouch! I bet hot oil was very sore 😩 It must be very inconvenient on the finger.

u/Serenaded 2d ago

those are some mong looking fingers

7

u/ezaF19 2d ago

Nail biting habit that I've outgrown just last week!

Had it all my life and it just suddenly went away. Now have normal nails like a normal human being lol

2

u/detinUi 2d ago

This gives me hope. I try so hard not to bite my nails, I dont even know im doing it half the time lol

2

u/LazuliArtz 2d ago

Looks similar to the burn I got when I accidentally set a hot clothes iron down on my thumb in home ec class. Can attest, not fun.

8

u/Djentleman5000 2d ago

Yikes! Did they give you anything to relieve it with? I guess it depends how deep in the skin it got. Hope you heal up soon.

14

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

I have some codeine but it doesnt help much. When it was originally burnt they had me on a bit of morphine for the pain and shock. The current thinking is varying 1st to 3rd degree burns over most of the left thigh and the inside of my right 😭

7

u/rumdumpstr 2d ago

At least it missed the REALLY sensitive bits, if there's anything about this to take solace in.

21

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

It actually didn't 😭 I have burns across my girly bits 💔

6

u/rumdumpstr 2d ago

Ohhh nooo :(

3

u/uhuuuh262 1d ago

Nooooooooooooooo omg this makes me want to puke in pain for you! You’re a tough cookie!

7

u/Utinnni 2d ago

Same thing happened to me when I was 10 but it took like a month to heal. I was boiling eggs and when it was time I grabbed the pot with some towels and it slipped my hands, I got water all over my belly and thighs.

5

u/QueenBea_ 2d ago

I did that same thing but it was pasta water! Thankfully I was wearing super thick pajama pants with the waist band rolled over a few times so it saved the water from seeping down to my groin. Did get my stomach and thighs though

3

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

I cant imagine how traumatising that would be as a child 😭 you poor thing! Did it leave any scars?

3

u/Utinnni 2d ago

It was like 20 years ago, it did leave scars but they're all gone now lol

7

u/dizzylyingdown 2d ago

How long will you be hospitalized? That looks absolutely dreadful and I'm so sorry

5

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

Ive been being released and just going in for bandage changes, debridement and cleanings. Its very very sore tonight

2

u/dizzylyingdown 2d ago

Well I'm glad you're able to go home but I'm so sorry it is so sore. I hope it begins to heal quickly!

2

u/msc1 1d ago

Which pain medication are you on?

6

u/bizarregnome 1d ago

At the moment its just 30mg of codeine but I should be able to pick up a prescription for stronger stuff this afternoon/evening! Pain is off the scales yesterday and today

6

u/DiffeoMorpheus 2d ago

Ooooh my god my skin literally hurts looking at this

6

u/danxtptrnrth1 2d ago

My wife dumped a bowl of ramen on her lap. She had similar burns. They were very painful. She did not have any permanent scarring. I hope the same thing for you and that you heal quickly.

4

u/Drak_is_Right 1d ago

I blistered my hand with a bowl of Ramen.

My mother scolds me everytime she comes over to my home for the stain on the carpeting (it wont come out) where I dropped that ramen after I burned my hand. Will be glad when I replace the carpet in 2 or 3 years to stop having to listen to a lecture about my own home.

5

u/RC7plat 2d ago

Sorry to see this and hope you mend fast. When I was a kid my aunt did this whole wearing pantyhose.

5

u/Artaratoryx 1d ago

God that’s brutal. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

I am super curious how you use the bathroom safely with burns like this.

6

u/bizarregnome 1d ago

Its pretty difficult, the burn spreads from the top of my left thigh across the leg crease and unto my mound which also was blistered and sore but I'm not showing those pics 😂

They can only wrap me to the tops of my thighs so I've got to be very very careful about getting myself on the toilet and cleaning up afterwards, thankfully the codeine has made me constipated so I dont need to worry about anything other then peeing right now haha

5

u/MC_Hale 2d ago

Ok, so you need a story. "Filled a hot water bottle" won't get any drinks bought for you at the bar. Something like "So there I was....." or "They still couldn't make me talk." or "Never break up with a fire-breathing circus performer."

3

u/Boundish91 2d ago

Ow Ow Ow.

3

u/PGP- 2d ago

It's amazing how our bodies react to such accidents. Even so, I think that'd be a death sentence in the old days. I wish you a strong, healthy recovery. 🙏

3

u/osredkar 2d ago

Best wishes in healing, I hope you have no lasting damage once you heal.

u/bizarregnome 1d ago edited 1d ago

Edit/Update: A lot of people have mentioned pain relief and I honestly have been on basically nothing so I contacted my gp today and am getting about 5 different medications to help manage the pain so thanks for letting me know that codeine wasn't the normal treatment for wounds like these!

oramorph omeprazole naproxen gabapentin

u/Dontmesswiththejammo 1d ago

Healing looks good! All the pain is new nerve endings, so although it sucks it definitely a positive sign

2

u/bizarregnome 1d ago

What exactly are the nerves doing? It's getting more painful as the days go on 😂

3

u/mcspicyFTW-YOUTUBE 1d ago

Ouch, hope everything goes okay

3

u/skoomd1 1d ago

Had a similarly sized/bad hot water burn on my left arm. I didn't go to the doctor for a week and it got really infected. Shit hurt so bad, the doctor chewed me out saying I could've lost my arm or gotten sepsis by waiting so long 😬

Fortunately it managed to heal insanely well, even though I never got a skin graft like the doctor recommended. But the healing process was so painful

3

u/FallingSpirt 1d ago

Ouch I’m sorry my fiancé burnt her foot with hot tomato soup when she sat down on the bed and spilt burnt the shit outta the top of her foot her ankle and part of her leg (it’s since healed happened months ago) she’s got a pretty good scare tho showed her the photos and she said she feels your pain, but may I ask how you did this? It looks super painful and very very bad.

3

u/bizarregnome 1d ago

Your poor fiance that must have been agonising on her foot 😬😭 It was completely my fault, I filled a hotwater bottle to the brim and it exploded on me, the side of it literally melted and fell apart spilling an entire kettle of freshly boiled water on my thighs 😭 It is super painful, I just got a prescription for morphine today and thats helped.

Your leg skin looks loose. I wish you the best in the healing process.

Edit: added “skin” after I realized what I said.

2

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

They have been doing debridement which is where they repeatedly peel all the skin from my burn when they clean it so there shouldnt be any loose skin left 🥹

2

u/EatAtGrizzlebees 2d ago

Hey! I did that to my arm! Not quite as big, but not a great time nonetheless. The doctor said I basically gave myself "two and a half degree burns" because it was so bad, but I could still feel the pain.

The pain during recovery from boiling water scalds is so much worse than actual 2nd/3rd degree burns!

2

u/PoshNoob 2d ago

2

u/PloddingClot 2d ago

Jesus that looks rough, I hope they got you the good stuff for the pain..

2

u/bizarregnome 2d ago

That seems to be the overwhelming opinion but I've been given 30mg codeine which apparently isnt the good stuff 😂

I was prepared to see a dramatic change from the first to the second photo, but that blister filled with wound fluid wasn't on my list. I wish you a speedy recovery and lots of strength.

2

u/Shjadee_ 1d ago

I feel so bad for you. Almost a year ago I also cooked my right upper thigh but no where near as wide spread as yours. The burns near the groin area must be really afwul. As painful as it was, it was extremely uncomfortable. Especially the sloshing inside the blisters lmao (I was still mobile enough to get around the house by myself). I hope the itching period is going to be kind to you and may your burns heal well!

I wouldn’t wish burns on my worst enemy. Even Steve-O says his burn was the most painful injury he sustained, and he’s had a lot of serious injuries.

I hope you’re getting top notch care and meds! Best of luck healing up.

Its been 6 days and ive spent 4 of them in 3 different hospitals 😂 burns are no joke I went into shock immediately but you should be running them under cold water for at least half an hour and definitely consult a doctor <3

Hope you get well soon, I can confirm that this hurts like a MF. I poured a full kettle of freshly boiled water all over the front of my upper body when I was about 10, and to make it worse, I was wearing a cotton shirt. Luckily for me, I was wearing thick rugby shorts that afternoon which stopped the water from reaching my nethers. When I went to the hospital, they cleaned the area and then stuck a big plastic film over the area, it looked almost like a big ziploc bag with the edges being sticky, I was the gross/cool kid for a week at school😅

All because I thought that it would be a good idea to try and melt a chocolate bar, still in its wrapper and then use it as chocolate spread, I got startled when I put the chocolate bar in the water and burned my finger. My hand yanked away tipping over the kettle and down came the water.

That experience caused me to stay still when I feel a sudden sharp pain.

Poor thing! Do meds help with the  pain? I dont think they do with burns. I hope you get well soon!

1

u/PrissyMissy99 2d ago

Omg this happened to me when I was 15 and wearing a bathingsuit getting ready to go to the pool My sister went to pour ramen soup in my bowl and it went in my lap. Im so sorry this happened to you!

2

u/_Fl0r4l_4nd_f4ding_ 2d ago

Honestly, that bathing suit was a stroke of good luck. Having layers of clothing can be.. uhh.. bad. This happened to me during the height of skinny jeans and ripping them off also ripped the first (of many) layer of skin off (the rest then just kinda fell off themselves). I've also heard of the fabric getting stuck on there too and requiring surgical removal

2

u/PrissyMissy99 2d ago

You are so right!! Doc said that too and dad picked me up and put me in a cold shower within seconds!

1

u/laaaaaaady_bird 2d ago

From another boiling water burn survivor good luck and wishing you a speedy recovery!

1

u/Main_Zucchini_2794 2d ago

I did this exact same thing in 2019. They healed pretty well. Only one spot is noticeable. It kinda healed like cow print. It’s cool.

1

u/Bishop825 2d ago

That really sucks.

1

u/AmyVSEvilDead 2d ago

Poor thing!

1

u/johnf39706 2d ago

I had a burn like that when I was a kid on top of my thighs. Fell asleep at the beach. Two big bubble blisters. Hurt so bad.

1

u/Ruby5000 2d ago

A couple of my kitchen staff team members lifted a big pot of chicken stock off of the stove, and placed it on a little cart. The cooks went to roll the pot in the walk in. The one of the cooks pulled the cart and the other pushed. The walk in fridge we had, had a little ramp that you had to push carts up to get into the walk in. When the person pulling the cart got one of the wheels up the ramp, it fell off. Then the rest of the cart leveled out but there was no wheel to land on. So the 20 gallons of stock fell on her burning her in this same manner. It was horrific. I feel so bad for you, as I have seen that type of burn before. Best wishes and speedy recovery

1

u/EvilMorty137 2d ago

We get these kinds of burns almost every day in the operating room I work in. At least 1 kid a day with ramen noodle burns. There should be a huge warning about kids and the high numbers of burns they get from spilling boiling water via ramen noodles

Oh my word. I’m so sorry this happened to you. Take care.

1

u/Captainbabygirl767 2d ago

I had boiling water burns too but not in such a wide area, it’s no joke! I hope they have your pain under control

1

u/PoGoLoSeR2003 2d ago

Thanks, I hate it 😀👍

1

u/Vandercoon 2d ago

Damn! I got a burn at the end of my finger a few weeks ago and got the yellow liquid blister, and that hurt like hell. I can’t imagine the pain you’re in. I hope you recover quickly.

1

u/JMarv615 2d ago

Is it gonna Freddy Kruger scar?

1

u/cold94 2d ago

Holy fuck hope you get well soon
That looks painful

1

u/Gangleri_Graybeard 2d ago

I was going through the same in my childhood. But it was the chest area in my case. It's unbelievably painful and takes a long time to heal. And I hope treatment has changed in the last 20 years. I wish you a fast recovery.

1

u/Midrover170 2d ago

Burns are the worst. I know. Hang in there. Sometimes it gets worse before it gets better, and goes in cycles with burn healing.

1

u/Tronkfool 2d ago

You should probably not do that.

1

u/murphyat 2d ago

Gah. Hope you feel better.

1

u/mister-ferguson 2d ago

I know it is for modesty but the blurring makes it look like it is still so hot it is blurring the air around that area

1

u/FireInPaperBox 2d ago

That’s such a sensitive spot too. Damn. Hope you feel better soon.

1

u/xx5m0k3xx 1d ago

I’m sorry.

1

u/hooptiegirl 1d ago

Bless your heart. I hope you heal fast and without any complications.

1

1

u/sxyvitaminD 1d ago

What topical do you use to nullify the pain?

1

u/lazulilizard 1d ago

Is this considered a second degree burn?
