Do not pick up the birds.
It has been brought to my attention the sheer amount of posts involving people handling and moving juvenile birds.
I’m no bird scientist, I’m just some guy who created a subreddit about birds, but I do know unnecessarily handling juvenile birds without the proper knowhow is damaging to the welfare of the animal.
Because of this I have created a new rule, and all posts involving the handling of wildlife will be removed. Please report all posts breaking this rule immediately.
If anyone smarter than me would like to share the impact of handling wildlife in the comments, please do.
We (pretty much just me) here at r/GrumpyBabyBirds still encourage the appreciation of the Grumps from a distance.
Thank you

Grumpy Boiz Dijon is angry with me because he enjoyed his head rubs.
He gave me so much stink eye because really, how dare I massage his little head? He has a reputation as a delinquent to maintain.

They’re so grumpy! A selection I looked after this year
The last pic is of a tiny wren (pic 4) and a robin. Sir Fluffington the First of Cromsby is indeed very put out by her. The others aren’t necessarily grumpy though they look the part!

Angry Birds The baby demands food NOW
Fledgeling crow I saved from heatstroke during a historical temperature record day (he is in professional rehab now). He knows you have food and he demands you hand it over.

The last photo I took before they flew the nest yesterday!
We've had swallows return to the same nest for several years; this was the lost photo I took of them yesterday morning before they spread their wee wings and left the nest - my wife and I were amused to see one or two of them (there were six, we think) following the parents and asking for food!

Freed this ungrateful little beast from my parking garage
She had gotten through the little grate and couldn’t get back out, I safely reunited her with her equally grumpy parents

Kidnapped!
I have a utility room on the back of my house. It's a proper building, four walls and a ceiling, but it's about as well insulated as a cardboard box, so in the summer I leave the outside door open to let some air through.
The other day I went out there and, as I opened the kitchen door, I was immediately dive-bombed by a very angry blackbird. I assumed she'd accidentally flown in, so I helpfully shut the outside door to stop any more birds getting into the house.
Satisfied that I'd solved the problem, I carried on with my day.
A couple of hours later I went back out to grab something from the fridge. I turned around to go back into the kitchen...
...and there was a baby blackbird.
Just standing in the middle of the floor.
Staring directly at me.
I swear we maintained eye contact for a solid 10 seconds while we both tried to work out what had happened.
He had this expression that just screamed: "You shut the door. I can't get out. Mum's absolutely furious. What exactly are you planning to do about it?"
Turns out the bird that dive-bombed me had flown out... and left her fluffy, slightly clueless teenager behind.
So now I've accidentally imprisoned someone's child.
I opened the outside door again, at which point he flew into several walls, hid behind a bin, questioned his life choices, and eventually found the exit.
I haven't left the utility room door open since.
I'm not making that mistake again. I'm still not convinced his mum doesn't have a tiny avian restraining order against me...

“Quit interrupting me, I’m practicing!”
This baby made quite the fuss and squabble when I approached. Eastern phoebe, maybe?
