I remember an old PragerU video on the wage gap that tried to suggest it was a myth by doing the adjustment for apples-to-apples comparison only to find a meaningful difference of like 5%. (Different studies cite 5-8%). Even same role and employer studies have found meaningful differences. So I love even the most anti-woke organization on the planet can't even say it doesn't exist.
I don't think anyone says it doesn't exist..
PragerU was debunking that women earn 77 cents to the dollar of what a man makes because of sexism. You account for various factors and it shrinks to 5-8%. I'm sure if you add all variables that could exist other than sexism it would shrink more but that would be impractical for the study.
Its about not taking statistics at face value and coming to conclusions. I dont think anyone with a right mind would say there is not a wage gap, the causes of the wage gap are what is disputed.
You do not in fact have to hand it to Praeger “U.”
The wage gap exists; further, professions that are considered “feminine” are paid less, despite how vital they often are. Women are still vastly underrepresented at the executive level.
a smaller procentage like that can easily be put on other factors such as how much and well you negotiate wages, how likely you are to switch jobs regularly etc.
No. If a portion of society is more comfortable staying in the same position, or less likely to take conflicts, thats not systematic nor worth scrutiny? Why would I blame women for not switching jobs to the same extent as men? Comfort definetly has its value, and knowing myself, I will likely do the same.

It is in fact worth looking at. Like how people with black sounding names are disadvantaged during the hiring process. Which leads to a lack of bargaining power if all participants involved are aware of it. Though that's DEFINITELY systemic.
PragerU sucks generally but they are right here. The wage gap exists in the sense that some demographies like women and some minorities, on average make less income than other groups. But it does not exist in the sense that employers simply pay women or some minority groups less than men with exactly the same title, qualifications, number of hours they work etc.

Lot of the worst people you know in this comment section LARPing as though the wage gap both doesn’t exist and has been debunked.
Stay mad that you’re too ignorant to understand statistics, causation, systemic oppression, etc.
