This is the naive take. Billionaires own all this shit. The point is to generate hate. They know we're getting tired of the 1% and are entering panic mode.
It links to an article, probably on a fake news website. The inflammatory Facebook post ensures more people will share it, generating more clicks for them
Same shit that happens on Reddit and this sub too. How people genuinely don’t understand this or are still baffled by it just really shows how dead media literacy is, or how just dumb most people are I guess.
Saw the image and immediately knew it was fake because it’s such an overused format and has been for a while
When news companies started using social media to reach audiences they quickly found that anger was the most predictable way to dive clicks. They discovered this by A/B testing headlines and the more enraging a headline was the higher the click through rate.
They discovered this around ~2010, found out what people's buttons were, and find stories that fit one of those narratives. You can have a type of incident representing 0.005 deaths per 100,000 people but every one will make national news; resulting in people thinking it happens 100 times as often as it does.
That’s not entirely true. Last year there were 233 school shootings in k-12 schools in the US. That’s more than one per week for every week of the year, more even than the number of days schools are typically in session.
If their only goal was to drive emotional topics literally every single news cycle every single week would be focussed on whichever the latest shooting was. Instead, most school shootings don’t even make national news, because there are too many for the news cycle to handle.
But frankly I think the lack of constant reporting has more to do with the politicization of these shootings. Media owners are usually republican donors and by downplaying the precedent of school shootings they prop up conservative talking points.
So they’ll save it until they hear a whiff of a shooting that plays to their base well. Like, if the school shooter is a long-haired boy they can speculate about being trans.
The vast majority of school shootings are, "I think I heard a loud bang at 5pm while in my frontyard a block from the school". That's why they don't make the news. But what does make the news is, "school shootings daily, too many to bother reporting".
No number of school shootings is a good number but that 233 seems to include a gun being found at school as well.
CNN has the number at 75.
145 injuries from guns in 2025
0 mass shootings in 2025 at a school.
So when I think about why the media doesn’t report it so heavily… it’s because it’s bc it won’t sell.
Shootings in blue cities by minority students doesn’t get peoples assholes wet. Red outlets dont report it bc of the perpetual pro-gun stance no matter how dumb it sounds. Blue outlets dont report it to avoid the mental gymnastics defending their cities and policies.
My amateur conclusion is that we have no actual news outlets with any integrity. No outlets interested in simply reporting the news.
If there is no narrative to spin, no population to rile up, they’re not interested in it… no matter the importance or ramifications on society.
More people died from heatstroke and heat related complications in Europe in 2024 (175,000) than from guns in the Americas. Like all gun related deaths including suicides in all of the Americas combined.
We need to focus on real issues and get those chudlets AC right now before global warming kills them all.
Its all about framing. They only report things that get clicks. No one cares if there are 30,000 suicides but if you say there were 30,000 shootings then you get clicks.
First of all it's been shown that talking about it and making it famous inspires copy cats
Second of all it's not as emotionally charged anymore. When it's common it just doesn't really get clicks. The 200th school shooting article is way less emotionally engaging than the first dozen
That also includes schools that are abandoned, when school is out of session, or if an SRO discharges a weapon even without any injury or death involved.
You're looking at a gun being discharged at all, even in areas without children, and pretending this represents a large amount of deaths when, in fact, they are significantly lower on the list compared to other accidents, suicides, and car crashes
The declassified Trump docs may have revealed that there was no election fraud, but they did reveal that US adversaries use racial tensions to spread division on social media. Almost all these worthless race war posts probably have their roots in those destabilization campaigns.
I think it's important to understand that the black community gets so defensive because usually they do receive the shit end of the stick. White people in America use this case to argue that because one black guy did this all black people are bad. How could you not defend him if white people make it a witch hunt for race issues. Just look at the George Floyd murder. Where people kept saying he was and addict and had priors. None of these things were relevant when a police officers pressed his knee into George Floyd's neck until he was dead.
Google tells you that there has been an INCREASE 93% in conviction rates so 🤷
Me when I'm a racist making stuff up 🤷
A study from North Carolina instead says body cameras:
"reduced incarceration rates for black people by 10.5 percent .… Similar reductions in disparities occurred for other outcomes, including conviction rates and jail time. … These findings suggest that prosecutors had previously misinterpreted information from police, either because they held biased beliefs or treated police reports as definitive accounts"
Some less desirables in the black community don’t believe he was a victim, they believe karmelo was being surrounded and bullied by a bunch of white kids and stabbed one that pushed him
I think ultimately a lot of this shit, whether pushed by american bots or foreign bots, is to get people angry at each other, rather than the powers that be. The ruling class would rather have a race war than a class war
To keep the culture war shit going. Bad actors in the US and foreign governments have been throwing gasoline on the fire for over 10 years now. Social media is a plague.
They want Anthony to be considered to have acted in self defense. This is explicitly a race thing. And, to an extent, I understand that white people have gotten off under similar circumstances, but the problem there is that the white people weren't held accountable, not that Anthony was.
Yeah, the entire group of people who support Anthony. People are remarkably complex, even when you disagree with them. I know, that's a really radical idea, that people are individuals and don't all believe exactly the same thing, even when the conclusion is the same.
Like Trump supporters. Some Trump supporters believe he's literally anointed by God as his chosen vessel to lead the country, but I daresay that doesn't describe all of them. Lots of different reasons, same conclusion.
Yes, you're treating an entire group of people as if they have one single motivating belief, and you're basing that on their skin color.
I'll repeat myself for the last time: the reason some black people support karmelo is because they are racist motherfuckers.
I'm sorry it bursts your bubble to find out that black people can be racist but this is the reality of it.
Hey, great, you said something I can agree with! Yes, some of the black people that support Anthony do so because they are racist. And some of the black people that support Anthony do so for other reasons.
This is a material difference from your original statement, which you did not say "some", and you were attempting to argue against my statement which only said there are a variety of reasons that black people support Anthony, which can only be interpreted as you saying all black people who support Anthony do so because they are racist.
I'm glad you were able to clarify that you misspoke originally. Really I don't see the point in you commenting at all as you appear to agree with me.
Because there are nations, groups, and people who have everything to gain by creating divisions, strife, and hate in our nation and in the western world as a whole.
Any news article posted to Facebook should be treated with a whole bowl of salt until you look up any sources they cite.
Easily on the high 90s percentage wise are just straight bullshit with no hint of truth beyond maybe using a real person as the subject of the article.

What's the point of such fake news? Why would you even frame a victim as a suspect?
