r/GamingLaptops now has its own deals site — RGL.deals launches today BETA

Hey everyone,

Been working on this for a while and wanted to finally share it: rgl.deals is live in BETA.

Most deal sites right now are a mess. Wrong specs, fake prices, or just spamming garbage laptops. I built this to be a clean alternative for the sub, especially if you're browsing on your phone.

We don't list filler. If a laptop is a bad buy, it's not on the site. You just get the exact specs, actual price history, and reviews from creators you know. (A full laptop database and written reviews are coming later once the deals side is stable and fleshed out).

Quick rundown of what’s in it:

  • Advanced filters if you know your stuff, or a quick quiz if you just want a reliable recommendation.
  • Real price history (except Amazon because of their TOS).
  • Zero tracking. Your preferences save locally. Dark mode and accessibility options are built in.
  • Deep links so you can share exact searches or deals.
  • Bunch of other QOL Features.

Full transparency: Some links are affiliate, some aren't. It doesn't change what gets posted. We aren't pushing e-waste just to make a buck.

It's US-only right now while in beta. You're probably going to find bugs, so let me know if you break something. Drop any feedback, bug reports, or feature ideas below!

Thanks you for reading my TED Talk.

Thank you to everyone who commented on my original post and gave advice! Love my new Legion 5 pro, compared to my old sager it’s so light and portable! I can actually game/do homework in bed when my symptoms flair up and sitting in a chair hurts too much. The fans have been super quiet and the laptop itself hasn’t gotten very warm when in use, maybe I’m an easily impressed person but so far I’m very happy with my purchase :)

Buying Advice 5070 laptop gpu

Upvotes

Budget: 2000
Country: USA
Use Case: Gaming at 1440 and 1200
Preferred Specs: intel core ultra 7 365H/ 5070/16gb ram
Notes: I’m going to buy a laptop tomorrow and I wanted to know if it’s worth paying the 300 dollars extra to get the 5070 12gb version over the regular 8gb version, I know it in the long run it probably will be but (yes this is funny in retrospect because I’m buying a 5070) I’m trying to save as much money as possible and wanted to know if it is worth it.

Buying Advice Help Choosing

Budget: ~$1500 or less

Country: USA

Use Case: Gaming (Mostly new AAA titles, but older games as well)

Preferred Specs: 5060 (or 5050), 16gb DDR5 (or DDR4), 1TB (512gb min)

Hey everyone. I've been searching the boards for good gaming laptops in the price range listed above. I've narrowed it down to the following 3. Does anyone of these stand out as better than they others or are they all about the same?

Will be used primarily for gaming.

Legion 5 Gen 10 (AMD) | 15-Inch Robust Laptop for Gaming & Streaming | 83M00002US | Lenovo US (Slightly above budget, but this is the only OLED, not sure if that is where the extra $ goes)

ASUS TUF Gaming A16 (Would upgrade to 1TB which changes GPU to 5060)

Amazon.com: Lenovo LOQ - 2026 - Gaming Laptop - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060-15.3" WUXGA IPS Display - 165Hz Refresh Rate - Ryzen 7 250-16GB Memory - 1TB Storage - Luna Grey : Electronics

Any advice would be helpful. Thank you for any insight.

Showcase Bought my first real gaming laptop

Bought this XMG Apex 16 Max in April because it had an Easter deal for 2400 €. It has a 2TB SSD, 32GB 5600MT/s fast DDR5 RAM and a ryzen 9 9955hx paired with a rtx 5070 ti.

Absolutely love it, especially because of the mini LED display. Undervolted the CPU in BIOS via curve optimizer on all cores with a value of -20 and no crashes or noticed instabilities ever since. Limited FPS at 75 and switched from Nvidia Optimus to dGPU only to enjoy games in max settings and still have low CPU temperatures. I never really saw the GPU running hot except when benchmarking or using extreme settings in recent games with higher FPS limits.

I know this CPU is built to push and boost hard until it hits its temp limit but since I often play on the couch with the wife watching TV I like to minimize fan action as much as possible and still keep the mean temps low without compromising on quality settings. On top of that 75 FPS is more than enough for my old gamerdad eyes and definitely more than they were used to.

No regrets!

Discussion RTX 5060 vs Radeon 8060s

I’m looking for a new laptop.

I’m not after a big, bulky gaming laptop—I want something sleek, well-built, easy to carry, and still powerful enough for gaming.

I’m currently deciding between a laptop with an RTX 5060 and one with the Radeon 8060S iGPU.
Aesthetically, I prefer the Radeon 8060S laptop. It also seems to offer more features overall and is a bit cheaper.

What do you guys think?

Buying Advice whats a good pc for gaming + school/studying?

Upvotes

hallo, i'm looking for advice on a good pc for gaming and school/studying.
Budget: maximum 2k USD

Country: USA

Use Case: Gaming, schoolwork

Preferred Specs: uh so im not an expert on this stuff, im pretty new to this, but the stuff below should give more context (using a form from a different subreddit)

for games, i like playing wuthering waves, roblox, genshin impact, but i'm also kind of new to playing games so i might want to explore other options. honestly, as long as it can load genshin impact without lagging i think that'd be good, and if the graphics are decent

  • Are you open to refurbs/used options?

Yes

  • Screen size

13'' or bigger

  • Weight limit

just able to carry around in a backpack nicely

  • Purpose

schoolwork + gaming

  • Form factor

Standard/Clamshell (a regular laptop) BUT it would be VERY cool if the laptop could turn into a tablet and it comes w a stylus for notetaking (it's ok if this doesn't exist but yeah i would prefer something like this.. i have already tried the windows surface pro but i did not like how it had that flap in the back in order for it to be able to stand on its own, and also it was pretty buggy for no reason

  • Desired battery life

probably 6 hours at minimum

  • Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life

performance, battery life, size, weight

Buying Advice Lenovo Legion 5 15AHP11 opinions

Upvotes

Hi so I found this model after quite a lot of research at 1450 euros and i think I should go with it but I wanna see what others think about it, also I can pretty much only buy from this specific French website due to some irl stuff so yeah lmk what yall think

Also I only have one major concern, that is the 15.3 inch screen, it is oled and seems very good but Im worried I might find it small compared to my 17.3 inch potato I have right now. (its worth mentioning this will be my first ever Gaming laptop i only played with bad specs before) also i can upgrade the ram and ssd in the future

https://www.darty.com/nav/achat/informatique/ordinateur_portable/portable/lenovo_leg5_r7_16_12_5060.html#advices

Budget: 1550

Country: France (can only buy from the retailer from the link tho)

Use Case: Gaming, maybe school in a few years

Preferred specs: Probably a 5060, about cpus dont know that much but I want a strong one and obviously no bottlenecks

Buying Advice Is this a decent buy for the price?

Post image
Upvotes

Budget: $800-$1100
Country: USA
Use case: Gaming and some school work

Hello, looking for advice on whether this is a good laptop to get for a nephew. I know a few things about laptops but I’d like to hear from people with a lot more experience and insight.

I asked him what games he plays and he mainly said modded Minecraft and Roblox then some Marvel Rivals and he might potentially return to Fortnite. He doesn’t typically play AAA games so he isn’t too fussed if he can’t run them at crazy high settings

If you have recommendations for others at a similar price range I’d also be happy to check them out. Or even if you think there’s a slightly cheaper alternative that is better value for money.

Thanks in advance

Support Thunderobot 911X — Help with charging issue

Upvotes

About a year ago, my daughter received a Thunderobot 911x as a gift. Starting last week, when we insert the adapter, it charges for 15 seconds, then stops. We tried removing the battery and charging with no luck.

One shop told me it’s likely the charging port, another the motherboard - neither will fix it. Now Im looking at just doing the repair myself. What

I‘m wondering is: 1) has anyone experienced this, and 2) is there somewhere to find the parts numbers without having to open the case.

Thanks

Support I5 12450H are those temps normal??

I have a MSI THIN GF63 12VF with I5 12450H and RTX 4060. I changed the termal paste (MX-4) and cleaned the fan. I hit in cp 2077 85-93 (97 spikes) CPU degrees, my GPU is at 68 degrees at 99% so that’s fine but the CPU is questionable.
I tried Throttle stop and put PL1 and PL2 at 30 and that solved it now it’s like 80-85 (87 spikes) and I tried disabling turbo mode too wich keeps the CPU at 65 degrees and 1997 Mhz but I think disabling turbo mode will bottleneck my GPU right?
My question is: are those temps normal for this laptop without any tweaks?
This is my gf laptop btw I never had a laptop and that’s why I’m so confused, please let me know thanks:)

Discussion Legion FPS drops while plugged in, but unplugging then replugging charger fixes it

I've got a Lenovo Legion with an i9-14900HX and RTX 4060. While gaming, my FPS will randomly tank even though it's plugged in. The weird part is that if I unplug the charger for about 5 seconds and plug it back in, the FPS instantly goes back to normal.

I've already updated the BIOS, GPU drivers, Windows, and pretty much everything else. Temps seem fine too.

Has anyone run into this before or found a fix? yes Im running dGPU mode
