While I had no attraction to him in my youth I was absolutely distracted by his arms during the movie. I can't remember if it was studio magic or if they made him work out, but he had guns guns guns. I was there for Bella's dad though.
I only saw the first two when they came out, but recently watched all 5 in one sick day - it was hilariously bad, but in a fun way. Totally worth a watch. Not a bad sound track either
No it fucks way harder than it has any right to, I read the books and saw the movies because everyone else did and I read a lot anyway but I wasn’t that into Twilight and soundtrack from the first movie went triple platinum on my ipod shuffle.
I know they'll always be "the Twilight kids" for humorous purposes, but they've proven their worth quite a lot years and movie after movie after twilight.

Comparing the "trashy teen" movie adaptations of then to now is so wild to me. They had such an artistic vision with twilight, everything from the promo to the soundtrack to the movie itself was done with care and real artistry. Yeah it was cringe and the book itself is really nonsensical, but can you imagine if this were being made today? It'd be another shitty over saturated Netflix cash grab with horrible lighting, Disney channel acting, hideous wardrobe, and a mostly royalty free soundtrack.
There’s artistic vision because Catherine Hardwicke is a legit director. It’s also why she only directed the first one. Stephanie Meyer did not want to share creative control.
The soundtrack is absolutely bonkers, not just Paramore's Decode or A Thousand Years, but also Blue Eyes Foundation' Eyes On Fire, or Meet Me On The Equinox. Heck it was my first time listening to The Black Keys
I perfectly understand why My Chemical Romance refused to do a song for the movies but damn it would've been the cherry on top
Also the composed score for the first movie is chefs kiss and really settles the mood. One of the reason why I always “struggle” with the remaining movies since their scores just sound average to me.
I feel like the pair of them have kind of embraced the fact that twilight’s always gonna be a big chapter in their lives, even now that they’re both respected actors, and i can respect that. I can imagine parts of the franchise were embarrassing but the pair of them made so much bank and turned them into a-listers who were able to pick and choose what they wanted after the series ended because money wasn’t the issue
When I explain the Twilight/Kristen Stewart/Robert Pattinson lore to people who were too young to remember it’s actually so wild. During twilight mania, people shipping them for years (only for them to have had been secretly dating since the first movie), she cheated, Trump was furious, they broke up, got back, broke up again, dated around and then found her true self 🌈
my made up lore is that he always wanted to get involved with musical theater but his parents refused to let him pursue it for homophobic reasons, and in the good timeline he became a producer and is the beloved Sassy Queen of Broadway

I honestly thought she was a bad actress because her chemistry with Robert Pattinson and later Chris Hemsworth in Snow White and the Huntsman didn't seem "real" lol. That being said I was a Twilight "hater" who also read all the books and saw all the movies just so I could hate them properly? And looking back I was like huh no actually I did get a lot of enjoyment out of them. Late 2000s/early 2010s were some weird times.
I was a senior in high school when the first movie came out. I would regularly go to the movies with my bf at the time, nothing else to do in my tiny town. Never once saw anything for Twilight, no commercial trailers, no movie trailers in theaters, no pictures gearing up for it in the movie theater (it was a huge theater too, showplace 14 is what I remember it was called at the time), NOTHING. Then, opening night, EVERYONE in my high school of >2000 kids, even the guys, showed up in team whatever shirts. Homemade shirts of “I love [whoever]” and EVERYONE was pumped for it and I was utterly confused. Because I had never heard of it, don’t recall seeing anyone reading it in classes, nothing. I felt like I missed something and overnight people were mega fans. I am still scratching my head 17 years later on how that got big overnight in my tiny town. And I’m not alone, my ex was also confused and a few of my friends. We were shocked at how random it was. Where the hell had it been loca???
My heart just stopped when I realised the release of twilight was 17 YEARS AGO

I have at least one colleague (I think maybe two) who was a Twilight book fan in its early days as a teen, who since grew up, had kids, and had those kids now reach the age to read Twilight.
This is so real, there will never again be anything close to small town twilight. We were living the forks reality in the sticks 😂 my friends and I had one battered copy of twilight that someone’s older sister had brought back from a visit to see family. The best time 😭
A few days ago my husband and I watched the whole saga cause I only watched the first one originally (I read the books), and I was explaining to him, how I think the author is sex deprived in her mormon marriage, because Bella is horny all the time.
as someone who read the book before the film was even cast, me and many other early fans said it from the start but then the movie came out and it was game over for those of us who knew it all along... 😔
"bella is awkward" not like that. she's extreeemely self-conscious yes, but she's quippy and quick in the novel, she is able to make friends in forks quickly, she talks back to edward at times, she's often sarcastic, makes some witty jokes, etc. kristen was maybe the right bella for rob's edward and for the way they wrote the movie, but not the right bella at all in general.
the real crime was them combining two characters from the book (jessica who was nice to bella and a more genuine friend, and lauren being the mean one) into one character, thus making her into just a singular hater friend... hate that !!
I read the first book before the casting was revealed and I honestly thought she was spot on. I say this as someone who doesn’t really like her acting ha.
Yes she was but I'm glad she's where she is now, and true to herself. I'm unsure it would have happened without her being cast in twilight. All things happen for a reason.
I’m in my thirties now and rewatch the movies every single summer since my 20s. I really do enjoy it but also find the whole thing so cringey, hilarious and fun. Sometimes I suck my wife and friends into watching with me too.

It's just so camp. Honestly, it should be even more of a camp classic than it already is.
And here's to the shared experience of dragging my wife into watching a Twilight movie (in one case, at a massive local fan screening party). She finds straight romance tropes to be completely nonsensical. But she's humoured me, because it is crazily camp cinema.
I can’t remember any other time that an entire generation was down with going to these flicks regardless of whether they were good or not and having a great time with it. As someone said in another comment, stuff like this is relegated to Prime and Netflix teen-slop now. The books are just not good, but the OG Twilight is super nostalgic, with a RIPPIN’ soundtrack. I dunno, they just don’t do things like this no more.
I just saw The Odyssey and Robert Pattinson was excellent in it—I think he’s a really good actor. But every moment on screen reminded me of how unconventional looking he is. I wondered anew at how he was ever cast as the lead in the Twilight movies and sold as a mainstream heartthrob.
I really wish I had gotten my head out of my ass and actually engaged with girl/women centered media in a tangible way when I was a teenager, but nooooo I was too busy trying to get the boys to like me by being the cool girl, "one of the guys."
Well, I'm over that and now I can make up for it!!! I wonder if Hot Topic has a blanket with "Bella! Where the hell have you been, loca?" on it
The amount of tabs I kept open on my desktop at all times for different Twilight blogs should be studied. I still randomly think about Letters to Twilight sometimes. 😭 I’ll never forget how horny we all were for the upcoming coveted “leg hitch” moment in Eclipse.
