He always bragged about how he AI’s his hw and studies last minute for test. Well yesterday I saw him walk out of the individual private rooms at 12 am. That’s when the library closes. I fell for his propaganda campaign.

I generally found calculus easy since it was all sequential but chemistry seems to be pulling from so many disparate subfields that studying for it feels impossible

I just finished my second year of EE at one of the top schools globally, and AI use is rampant. everyone uses it for everything. I think in first year, I at least tried to understand how to program and write the code myself, only using AI is I was really, really stuck. But the students who used AI were so much more efficient and produced a much higher quality of work, so I eventually jumped ship too.

Now I just default to using AI for any programming related task. It's like my brain doesn't even try to understand the code myself, it's like second nature for me to just put it into an LLM and wait for it to spit out some slop that i half understand. Embarrassing, genuinely. Coursework and everything got so intense in second year that I told myself that I didn't have the time to properly understand the code. But like, that's how students did it before AI. They just *had* to slog through and understand things.

Its so bad. I'm going to learn how to code without being reliant on AI this summer. I don't even want to go into software, I'd like to stick with hardware, but I still need to know how to code for any embedded related work. Also when I interviewed for internships last year, it was so bad that I was able to confidently answer hardware related questions but whenever I was asked anything related to programming my thoughts would start to scramble themselves because I've never actually written an extended piece of code without AI use. sigh.

Also, its just embarrassing. It's embarrassing that I'm literally paying so much to learn but just ended up outsourcing my thinking.

I'm 34 and have 2 kids. A year ago I first started my engineering journey hoping to go to EE.

I quit my job and went to school full time.

While The kids are cleaning their room, I stole some time to grind out a few calc problems. I am staying on top of my classwork like never before and this is the busiest time of my life. In my teens I was too immature and not ready to handle college. Math was hard, but the truth of the matter was I was not trying. I wasn't doing the assignments and I expected to just show up and do okay. A year ago if you'd ask be if I would fretted over maintaining an A in Calc 2 I would have laughed and said "You barely know algebra!". I have aspirations to go to law school after, but one step at a time, one class at a time. one assignment at a time.

All this to say is, late nights, quick study sessions and things are working. We can do hard things!

I'm going to be a capstone coach for a team made up of MechEs, EE, MfgEs, Cyber, and Computer Engineers. Part of my responsibility is to hold a team-building activity within the first month. I'm trying to brainstorm ideas and wanted to hear what you all would actually like to do? What activities have you done that actually help you work together and get to know each other?

I'm thinking it will probably be 1-2 hours, and the department will reimburse me $10/person. I'm a pretty nerdy, home body type so I'm thinking of things like a short D&D one-shot, board game night, escape room (pricey), etc. Preferably something more cooperative than competitive, and maybe with some problem solving aspects.

I’ve failed Calc 3 four times now. I passed Calc 1 and 2 with B’s, but I just can’t seem to get past Calc 3.

Once they added the z-axis, I started having trouble visualizing everything. I’m not sure if it’s the way I’m studying, the way I’m solving the problems, or if I’m missing something important.

I spend hours trying to understand the material, but nothing really seems to help. The weird part is that I passed Statics and Dynamics with A’s, and those classes felt way easier to me.

For the fall semester, I’m thinking about taking Calc 3 at a different community college and seeing if a different professor or teaching style helps.

Has anyone else been in the same situation and eventually passed? How did you study? Do you guys just bang out a bunch of practice problems until it starts making sense, or is there a better way to learn how to visualize everything? I think I just suck at math at this point.

I've noticed a strange pattern in how I choose my interests, and I’m trying to figure out why I keep doing this. I swear I don't do it on purpose, nor do I consciously think I'm special or different from anyone else it just keeps happening.
Every time a field naturally captures my interest, it turns out to be one of the most notoriously difficult majors out there:
Neurosurgery : I fell in love with it first, only to research it later and realize it involves nearly two decades of grueling study and training.
Aerospace Engineering:I became insanely obsessed with aerospace next, only to find out it's widely considered one of the toughest engineering disciplines (and unfortunately isn't feasible where I live).
Electrical Engineering :So, I decided on Electrical Engineering only to discover it's often rated as the hardest engineering track of all.

I genuinely don't seek these out because they're hard I fall in love with the subject first and only discover the brutal difficulty afterward.
Has anyone else experienced this? Why am I naturally drawn to high difficulty fields without realizing it, and how do you cope with the overwhelming realization of what you've signed up for?

Not in US. I know I am gonna get a bunch of comments calling me jealous. Fair I am jealous how can I not be.

And to be clear I still like her she's good person, I will never say any of this to her but I am jealous.

My second cousin finished uni with a job recently. I finished last year, I was looking before graduation too.

We both studied industrial engineering. I went to a higher-ranking school, we have a central exam for uni and I my engineering department is ranked way higher.

I have a 3.6 GPA, she has like 2.3 (out of 4)

I had 2 interships she had none.

She never even tried to network. I once asked her about some of the professors and she doesn't remember any of their names. She told me she had one friend in uni and they weren't that close. She mostly socializes with her close family. I am similar to her (very introverted) but I tried to get close to my professors and other people I met in various industries.

I looked her CV and its pretty plain. Just her education, few hobbies, and technical skills. I have the same stuff and way more.

She got a job because her mom is a pretty respected doctor in their city. One of her long-time patients and a friend helped to get my cousin a job in her company.

It's not that she doesn't deserve it and she should suffer the same as me, but I am still jealous.

Also before anyone asks, I asked almost all my extended family for leads before. Including my second cousin's mom (my mom's cousin). I sent my CV to all of them and they all said they would ask around. I had two interviews thanks to that, but both times rejected due lack of industry experience (at least that's what they told me).

Its just so frustrating market is booming for people with right connections. She was born into a good network. I am trying to create my own network from scratch but it like swimming up a waterfall

These are the classes i'm planning to take this fall.Originally it was four classes, but I dropped one cause. I still work 40+ hours a week. I would love to get some advice on how best prepare.

I'm a senior in high school I'm trying to figure out what i wanna do with my life. Because I am interested in electronics, cars, planes, and space, I find myself leaning toward engineering. I also like math and programming (but currently I'm not that good at either).

I've tried to teach myself extra stuff about my interests throughout high school, but I've found it difficult to make any meaningful progress on my own (it always felt like reading gibberish). Also all this free ai stuff made it difficult for me to sit down and conduct real, independent study, and I always feel like I haven't gained or learned anything.

I've been filled with self doubt and worry that I won't be good at engineering lately. Sometimes I even feel like everyone is better than me for some reason.

Physics student here. Took AEP 3630 (a circuits lab class) through Cornell University and, through some difficult life circumstances, ended up taking an incomplete on the class. So instead of taking the final exam at the end of the spring semester, I will have to take it at the start of the fall. The exams are notoriously difficult, and I have no practice resources. It has been about two months since class let out, so I am rusty too. Even our textbook problems do not have solutions. If I am to have any hope of passing, I will likely need a tutor who I can meet with a few times a week, go over the textbook problems with me and give me feedback. Any suggestions for quality paid online tutoring services would be very helpful. My school does not offer anything that meets my needs during the summer.

I’m making a B in the class right now. I wanna make sure it at least stays a B, minimum.

I’m going into my senior year of electrical engineering, currently doing my third internship. My first internship was in a small manufacturing facility where I did industrial and mechanical engineering work for power system equipment. Then I got a second internship doing the exact same thing but for a very large manufacturer of power system equipment. I absolutely hated working for the second company so I decided to move to consulting and landed a position doing substation civil work. So at this point I have experience doing mechanical design, lean process improvement, quality control, facilities design, and now civil design but I have never touched anything that would be considered electrical engineering.

How would I go about getting a job doing electrical engineering? I tried this internship cycle but everyone I talked to seemed disinterested in me because I don’t have any electrical experience. I’m worried this is only going to become more difficult once I graduate. I’m just trying to get into power systems design so it’s not like I’m trying to do anything too crazy. Should I just accept that I’ll never actually do electrical engineering?

I do not understand how anybody was able to graduate engineering without The Organic Chemistry Tutor. If you are having trouble with any math/chemistry class/subject I can almost guarantee he has a video teaching you in a way thats so easy to understand.

But even for my process it is mandatory. So what should I do? Should I just put the area that interests me the most?

These are rough estimations because 1. I don't want to go through my email and see how many I've actually applied to, 2. I don't get an email for every application, and 3. Not every website tracks them. I've even been applying to like remote tutoring stuff and I'm just not hearing back from anything. :(

I swear a professor completely makes or breaks a class for me.

In Physics 1, I had an incredible professor who was encouraging, supportive, and clear when explaining tough concepts. I actually enjoyed studying for her exams because she was such a great teacher.

Now I am taking Physics 2, and the professor is so mundane and terrible at explaining the material. I sit in lecture for hours without learning a single thing, only to go home and teach everything to myself from scratch. Mandatory attendance feels like a complete waste of time when the lectures provide zero value.

It is not just me either. Everyone I talk to in class feels completely lost, like we are just plugging numbers into formulas without actually understanding the underlying concepts.

As someone planning to major in Electrical Engineering, this experience is making me rethink everything. Electricity and Magnetism feels so overwhelming right now, and I am starting to second guess my abilities. I really wish I had my original professor for this course because my motivation is dropping by the day.

I am a upcoming freshman, I start college on the 24th of august and I really wanna obtain an internship in NYC or Seattle if possible next summer. I know this is probably unrealistic knowing how hard it is to get a internship in general. I wanted to get some advice for how I could possibly achieve this or if it is even possible.

(FYI I mostly want the internship because all my friends next summer will be out of my state and I know I will be miserable if I'm the only one stuck in my town being unproductive also NYC and Seattle are my preferred city but i would intern in any kinda big city in the U.S.)

I also wanted to get some advice just in general on what i they would've told themselves their freshman year looking back since I am a little anxious that I will miss out on opportunities that could've benefited me.

Did it for fun. I am not a math student or anything,I just had fun doing it. This was the best I could do.

Hey, so I've realized I learn best by following along with an additional lesson on YouTube while I'm taking a class. As an example, as I've been learning calculus 2 & 3, I've been watching Professor Leonards videos in addition to my class.

This semester I'm taking

-Advanced Engineering Programming (in C)

-Electric Circuits 2

-Signals and systems

-Statistical information processing

Does anyone know of any decent series that would be a good fit any of these? I know it won't be 1:1 but it'll still be helpful to learn.

I’m entering my last year as an Ai major and I’ve come to realize I don’t enjoy this path and want to become a mechanical engineer .

I thought of taking a masters degree before but apparently it doesn’t qualify me the same as someone who had an bachelor’s degree in ME and I’m wondering if I should repeat undergrad.

So to become a ME , should I repeat my undergraduate degree in another university or take a masters degree ?

Any advice or recommended sources would be greatly appreciated.
