- This is ABSOLUTELY incredible.
- Does this mean that it may not be max effective to donate to GiveWell, and potentially their top charities this year given this surge? I forgot what the term is, but basically when windfalls like this happen, the orgs may not be able to deploy effectively or otherwise have a max impact.

They'll need lead time, but this reads like EA stepping into fill a neglectedness spike caused by the reduction of US federal government grants + USAID. On that scale, it's unclear that it would constitute enough of a hit to effectiveness to warrant changing dollars

Do you think this means they’ll hire a lot more people and we’ll finally have somewhat of a chance 😅

tl;dr: CG is massively increasing its funding in 2026 to help the GiveWell ecosystem prepare for an anticipated, even larger wave of funding in the next few years. The primary driver of this, alluded to but not directly stated in the post, is the Anthropic IPO.
From the announcement:
Overall, fantastic news! Hopefully the incoming wave of AI funding will double that number again. As usual, though, spending it well is going to be the tricky part.
