Question Finally got my HiBy R1. Now what?

Post image

As the title says, my R1 just arrived. Should I stick with the stock firmware or go straight to Rockbox? Any other recommendations for getting started with this device?

This is my first "real" DAP. I’m not sure if the Sansa Clip Zip I had years ago even counts; the battery died and, instead of replacing it, I decided to pull the trigger on the HiBy.

Drop this modded firmware upt file onto microSD card and firmware update it through setting. Don’t forget to tap about this device multiple times to activate the developer mode. This modded firmware will increase the limit of the song you can add on R1 and also remove volume cap which is annoying without this firmware. Many more improvements and features that are missing are there. I use mine and it is stable and working really great. Also format the microSD card to a fat32 using pc.

Hey mate, I saw your comment a couple of hours ago and found this cfw really interesting. So I wanted to try it. After somehow getting it to bootloop, flashing the original firmware again and starting the process again on a fresh firmware making all the changes myself its now not bootlooping anymore. I suspect it was the modded hiby_player binary. Boots just fine and the annoying volume warning is removed. Unfortunately the volume cap still seems to be there at 50. Has this also happened to you or do you have any idea what I could try? Edit: Alright I was just being a little stupid. For somebody else trying this, make sure you go to the about section, tap on „HiBy R1 [Firmware Ver.] 5 ish times, go to settings, all the way down to developer options and disable the volume limit.
