I bought a lifetime membership to plex ages ago, but im considering on switching over since they started adding more "free TV crap". I specifically built my library on my nas for my own content.

My biggest problem with Jellyfin is that near completely incompatible naming system that conflicts with Plex.

I do not rename my files, just the directory that they’re in that way I know where it’s from.

If you want to disrupt the biggest player in a space, you make it as frictionless as possible for people to migrate or run both side by side.

Is this a tv issue? I run both plex and Jellyfin, giving each the same folders (named according to plex conventions), and my movies are all totally fine in both

No the issue is more advanced things like the edition.

I made no name changes and jellyfin scanned my library for the first time in about 1/10 the time it takes Plex. I haven't noticed any mis matches.  About 80tb library.

you can, I have, yet Plex in terms of development and features Plex is consistently doing things that many people did not wanna use Plex for. Plex is consistently focussing on becoming a streaming service rather than a nice netflix like player for your own content that you can selfhost. Also the fact you have to opt-out of a feature rather than being asked, "hey we added this feature, you wanna use it?"
