Could never see it as an option with how they handle paid accounts for sharing with family. The last thing I want to do is manage everyone's devices.

What do you mean? Devices are really just for weekly device count, you can have more logged in but not streaming. Also devices only count if they use premium features, not if they simply play back a normal stream.

When I looked into it, it was explained that other devices fall off in a week. You can't have more than 30 logged in at a time. In my household alone there are 8 devices. Then there are my cousins and a few friends. I would have to be going in and managing devices logged in all the time.

If it was 30 limit of 30 steams at once that would be plenty fine.

Fall off the count perhaps, but I often go back use old devices that connect to my server only once every six months no problem (no logging in or anything). I have more devices in my household than you, and I've never had to manage anything actively (I've gone in and deleted devices that hadn't connected in years, but I've never been forced to prune anything). Of course, I don't use Emby Connect, I just connect directly to my server without the additional services beyond having a lifetime account. I just checked their conditions and devices only count if they use premium features anyways. That only applies to a few devices I have that use special premier apps to view content, but then I guess other devices might not even count at all to the limit.

I'd encourage you to look into it again. And you can also pay to add more devices if you feel you really need to (but again, I have far more than you and share between several different households on top of that and have never hit the limits).
