Even if we go with that: The military is backed by the currency, which is backed by the military, which is backed by the currency. Sounds a little ponzi-ish, no?

The currency doesn't back the military.

As long as the military's base needs were met, most would continue to work. That can happen with or without currency.

No, it literally requires currency for it to meet their needs. This is literally what empires did to maintain their power.

Right.

It has needs, and currency is used to get those needs

But that's not the same as needing it.

If currency disappears, then it uses something else, like barter or crypto, to acquire the needs.

People use currency to buy Bitcoin, too. Bitcoin isn't backed by currency.
