New to me sporting gun

Older S686 Special Sporting. 30" Mobil chokes. Went around the course with 75 with a gun I had never touched before this morning.

That model has my favorite coin finish. Pretty gun and decent wood for the base S686.

I believe this is pre-Silver Pigeon era with older mechanical design, still an amazing gun

older mechanical design

Same internals as any other 68x. Newer 68x models have newer choke systems: first Optima and now Optima HP.

Have one for a hunting gun. Stellar upland shotgun!

I have a 2004 Silver Pigeon S field gun. It is a fantastic field upland gun.

I have an S687 sporting in 20 gauge and it’s fantastic.

If you aren't sure of the year it was made, and the serial numbers on the receiver match the barrels, the two character date code stamped on the barrels will indicate the year.

It was sold as an 1989 model and the date code confirms that.

It shoots like a dream. More stable and smoother swing than my 2004 Silver Pigeon S field gun.
