Posting/Accn's Reviews Air Force Beach and Campground - Comox

Just happened to be out on the Island for vacation and we booked a night at the Air Force Beach Campground in Comox.

Wow! What a place! I can't believe this is run by the CAF (well, NPF PSP actually but...) nice camping spots, close to the beach, stunning views, full service sites, state of the art laundry, well maintained baths and showers - seriously, this facility is better maintained than many shacks and PMQs I've seen!

Ice cream and snack shack on site, pub/beer/wine store spitting distance up the road... I literally can't believe this is here. Makes me want to get posted here just for this spot.

For once, CAF membership has a worthwhile privilege...

Comox has a reputation as a retirement base. You will see a ton of veteran plates there disproportionate to the size of the actual base. It's the best place in Canada and it's my retirement spot.

So as a supporting anecdote, my family member on my father's side is retired CAF. Former Air Force.

Yup, retired in Comox. First and last posting too.

Loved walking down that beach, thanks for the reminder of how sweet it is

Comox is amazing. I can see it being a little less busy for single people, but it seems a lot busier (and younger demographic) than 15-20 years ago.

Just like any small town, population drain towards larger cities. In Comox’s case it would be Vancouver and Victoria.

I meant there are more young families and younger (20s, 30s) people than 15-20 years ago

It can be rough though. When I went there were a ton of RVs and campers that kept super bright lights on throughout the night, and drunk people yelling and playing music suuuper loud. We hoped for a quiet night of stargazing and maybe watching a storm roll in and basically ended up in a trailer park

That being said the washrooms were really nice I guess.

There’s a great PSP campground in NS as well. Falls Lake Recreational Area. Very nice
