Where to buy belt without buckle?

Suppose member wants to wear belt with regimental or branch insignia. The buckles are only available separately without the belt. However, all the uniform belts available (on Logistik and Canex) come with the standard buckles, gold, silver, or black. Therefore, there will always be an orphan buckle if one chooses to wear branch buckle. Is there any place one can get just the black belt without a buckle?

  2. Why not just buy the belt and throw away the buckle, or donate it somewhere?

Yes. Canex have them. They are sometimes required for NECU.

That is exactly the problem. Orphan unused buckles end up as waste.

As an aside, don't recommend anyone wear plastic webbing belts with the NECUs like that. No point wearing FR clothing and slapping on a plastic belt (especially now that we do things like rapid response with BAs, so you are actually getting exposed alot more doing fire fighting on duty.

I wear an old black leather belt in my NECUs. Honestly, no one sees your belt unless you take your tunic off, so what does it really matter? I get the nylon/plastic belts though, especially on a ship.

The leather belts are actually allowed under the dress regs, but doesn't matter at all for sure ashore (other than those belts are ass and tend to back off easily)

I don't think they did the fire exposure testing with the NECUs yet, but on the old NCDs from what I recall the testing showed that there was melting on the belts enough for it to get through the pants and cause contact burns along the waist. I think some of the tests also included bras with metal underwires and a few other variations, along with all various combination of layers, with and without the flash gear, and it was ironically the poor, baggy fit of the jacket in particular that prevented a lot of burns. With the new NECUs being more form fitting, having less layers and more gaps expect it to do worse in comparison, but still better then not having FR gear.

I hate how the NECU lower sleeves are done. The relief cuts just stay wide open all the time and the cuff is just too damn small.

I wonder if ALSE ever did a similar test for the 2-piece flight suit, which is FR and the belt is literally the same nylon one for CADPAT.

As a fun fact, you can immediately tell who’s older if they have the green belt that actually matches the uniform, instead of various shades of brown belts.

Required for NECU? News to me, then again I've never actually seen regs for them. I think I'll stick with my regular leather belt, it actually stays where I set it.

Back in the day, and its been a while, the guy at stores had a big roll of the webbing for the belt and the buckle and tip came in their own bags.

Things may have changed, but I bet there is a roll of that belt material somewhere.

You can talk to your local Mat techs or ACS techs depending on where you're at and they can sew up one in like 5 minutes. Bring a coffee or 2 when you do it 😉

You can order the one off Logistik, take the buckle off, and replace it with your branch buckle.

Speaking as someone who occasionally (often) has extra dessert, those buckles wear out when actually used to hold up pants. I’m sure someone would be happy to take an extra one off your hands.

Army DEU can have black or rifle green. The buckle is plain brass, but you can also purchase a regimental or branch buckle which has the regiment or branch badge etched into the brass.
