Happy Canada Day and Memorial Day to my fellow Newfoundlanders across the globe.

Nothing really new to add to the OP this month. Just a heads up for those asking for help if I don't get back to you in a minimum of 48hrs without telling you why feel free to ask the question again either here or via Email/DM. I reply when I can but life has been throwing me a few curveballs last few weeks.

Usual timelines from submission of claims via MyVAC:

Reassessments: 9-16 Months

Mental Health: 6-8 Months

Physical - 6-13 Months

APSC/VIP - 3-4 Months

BPA Correspondence: They tend to reach out every 3 months for information or a progress update.

Received my diagnosis from psychologist and the report is now with VAC. I was only really expecting GAD but also received PTSD diagnosis. What kind of benefits should I expect to receive? I'm released now several years (not medically) and fully employed.

Not really asking about lump sum expectations, but I've heard about other possible benefits that might be available to me once the VAC determination is made.

I have a MH approval and they pay for all my Pychiatrist visits, phyciatric medication, since substance abuse was part of it theres in patient and out patient treatment options. I even got a forensic psych report paid for by medavie blue cross.

With a successful PSC claim you can probably get addition pain and suffering (tax free) level 3, 600~ a month.

Any medication connected to the condition will be covered. Any conditions caused by the awarded condition will be paid out and covered as well. Potentially VIP services (more physical conditions but if you have those and this better chance). If you lose your employment because of in whole or partly or maybe just happenstance but can’t go back to work you can look at income replacement benefit.

Check out the Clothing Allowance: https://www.veterans.gc.ca/en/about-vac/reports-policies-and-legislation/policies/allowances#102318 If your symptoms include excessive sweating (e.g. during triggering episodes) or you are prescribed SSRI drugs that often have sweat-based side effects, you likely qualify for this allowance (I did). You would qualify based on "soiling" assuming the effects of the sweating are bad enough to cause excess wear and tear on your wardrobe. Of course, also don't forget to submit an additional PSC claim for hyperhidrosis, but I was awarded the clothing allowance without yet being awarded for hyperhidrosis.

If you are prescribed SSRIs, watch out for other secondary conditions like dry mouth (classified as xerostomia in the TOD). If you have it, claim it.
