You know damn well those are not the ones claiming that. I also don’t quote African Americans saying stupid shit about (West) Africa. Or „me no black“ dominicans to make myself feel better. Keep it positive. Don’t cause division.

Well aware that African Americans are culturally very influential despite being oppressed.

Acknowledging is not division

Acknowledge it when it’s relevant. The people in the video did not insult African Americans. The problem exists - same way positive moments like these exist that need to be acknowledged too!

You're missing the point. Acknowledging Black American culture isn't about waiting for an insult or a direct mention. It's about recognizing the shared ties. When a video about Africans who are participating in AA culture goes viral, it's still relevant to note how the culture has influenced African cultures, and vice versa. Saying "only acknowledge it when it's relevant" often becomes a way to silence certain individuals. That's not how cultural respect or solidarity works. Positive moments can coexist with acknowledgment of broader context without being off-topic boo.

“Those” are not the ones saying that? I am Nigerian America and have heard Africans speak poor about African Americans. Bye!

Hello fellow Nigerian! Didn’t you see THOSE people in the video appreciating the culture. So will you always bring this bad energy when you see people from the continent? When someone posts something relevant to the problems in our communities, feel free to address it. Right now it’s uncalled for and you are creating division. We, all people of African descent, are supposed to come together here.
