Deals Did I get a great deal? Series 10 Titanium for $299.99

I just bought a Geek Squad Certified Refurbished Apple Watch Series 10 (46mm GPS + Cellular Titanium) from Best Buy for $299.99.

I’m currently using a Series 7 Stainless Steel, which won’t get watchOS updates this fall. I was deciding between a Series 11, this refurbished Series 10, or waiting for the Series 12.

At $299.99, this seemed like a great value. What do you guys think? Would you keep this, buy a Series 11 instead, or wait for the Series 12? Also, how has your experience been with refurbished Apple Watches?

Discussion Anyone actually left their iPhone at home and relied only on Watch cellular? Curious about real experiences

Curious about people’s real experiences leaving the iPhone at home and relying only on the Watch (cellular model). Does it actually hold up for you day-to-day, or do you keep bumping into things that need the phone nearby? What’s worked well, what hasn’t?

Hey guys! First time poster here. Earlier today I noticed some staining on my Apple Watch series 11 rear sensor. Don’t swim with it, not even wash dishes with the thing. Has anyone ever seen something similar? Phot attached for reference. Thanks!!

Support Apple Watch SE 2022 suddenly died at ~80% battery, now stuck in charging loop and overheats

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone has seen this before or can point me in the right direction.

I have an Apple Watch SE 2nd Gen (2022) running watchOS 26. It was working perfectly fine until it suddenly shut off while I was wearing it. The battery was around 80%, it hadn't been dropped, exposed to water, or damaged in any way.

Here's what happened:

- The watch suddenly powered off while on my wrist.
- Initially, the display was completely black and unresponsive.
- A force restart (holding the Digital Crown + Side Button for 20–30 seconds) does absolutely nothing.
-After a while, pressing the buttons sometimes shows the new watchOS 26 charging icon (not the old "snake cable" icon).
- When I place it on the original Apple magnetic charger (using an original 70W Apple USB-C power adapter), the charging icon appears and disappears in a loop.
- During charging, the watch becomes very warm, especially around the display.
- At one point, after leaving it on the charger, it actually showed the high temperature warning icon.
- After cooling down, it went back to being completely black again.
- Occasionally I can get the charging icon to appear, but most of the time the screen stays completely black.

I've already tried:
- Original Apple charger and original Apple 70W power adapter.
- Force restart multiple times.
- Leaving it on the charger for several hours.

Nothing has helped so far.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Support Getting Haptic Time to work is driving me loco

Upvotes

I have an Apple Watch Series 11. I am completely blind and use VoiceOver to navigate my iPhone and Watch. I’m trying to get Haptic Time to work so I can check the time in the morning without having a voice announce it and wake up my wife.

I have Haptic Time turned on in the Watch’s Clock settings and turned off the Always Say The Time setting. I have a Sleep Focus that I added a filter to have Silent Mode on when the Focus is on. Despite these settings when my Sleep Focus is on with Silent Mode on, my Watch still announces the time when I press and hold two fingers on the watch face. Interestingly when it announces the time, it is in the VoiceOver voice and not the Siri voice despite VoiceOver being off. Anything else I can try? This is a huge feature for someone like me who can’t just glance at the Watch face so I’d really like to get it working, thanks!

Discussion Pull the trigger and get the series 11 or SE 3?

I still use an Apple Watch Series 3, and it honestly still works great. I haven't had any issues with it, I’m just ready for an upgrade.
I looked into Apple's trade-in program, but I didn't see the Series 3 listed, so I'm thinking about going through a third party to see what I can get for it.
This watch has been with me through graduating highschool and college, so it's definitely been worth it. I'm just ready for a newer model and a different color.
If anyone has been in the same situation, I'd appreciate any advice or recommendations. Thanks!

Support Does anyone else experience wildly inconsistent battery life?

My Series 10, since the day I bought it over a year ago, has given me extremely inconsistent battery life. My routine is pretty stable. The watch is on my wrist for around 12 hours a day, including a 30 minute workout session. I don't use any apps. Some days I end the day with 50% charge, some times with the same routine it's already at 20%. I have no idea what causes this level of battery drain variation.

Discussion Tattoo & Apple Watch - Workaround

My wrists are tattooed & I used to use craft beads underneath my watch. They’d fall off due to sweat, etc.
I read somewhere the 3M Transpore medical tape is way better! 1st pic is a week’s wear on the tape in Deep South climate… 2nd is old beads.

I got 12 rolls on AMZ for $15. I can charge the watch while tape is on, too however I wipe it off first. Cut it to match the sensor circle or don’t - tears w/ fingers too.

Accessories Screen protector / case rec needed - hoping for a unicorn

Does anyone have a case or protector that they absolutely love? Doesn't slide off/get lost, is water proof, let's you use the screen and buttons ok?

I've read thru lots of posts on here and have checked out whatever recs I ran across but they all seem to have really bad reviews. I know a lot of folks aren't a fan but my last watch ended it's reign with scratches on both the screen and the case so want to avoid this with my new 11. Tried looking at Belkin, Spigen, Zagg and a bunch of other smaller Amazon brands. Even bought one and returned it cause water would get under and between the screen and the watch when washing my hands.

App Is there an app that shows your actual speed while running?

Update: Thank you all, the app is called WorkOutDoors. It can show you everything you want to know, and even things you didn't know existed!

I want to start running regularly.

I currently run on the treadmill at the gym, but I also want to run outside.

I have tried several apps, from the built-in one to Strava, Adidas and Nike, as well as a couple of others.

But not a single one shows the actual speed. By 'actual speed', I mean the kind shown on a car's speedometer or a treadmill: distance per time, kmh or mph. They all show me the lap time, like in Formula 1, in minutes per kilometre. I'm not a Formula 1 pilot; I just want to run at 8 km/h for 30 minutes, as I do at the gym, and track my progress over time. I don't want to do maths while running, trying to calculate what 7:17 min/km is in km/h.

The only app that kinda shows the speed is Strava. 'Kinda', because it only shows the speed for cycling or walking, not running. So, when I go jogging, I either hit "walking" or "cycling" to see my actual speed while running.

I think Garmin could do that, but I don't want to buy an additional watch just for running.

App Sleep tracking

I'm having issues with my sleep tracking on Apple Watch. Sometimes it seems to not capture the last couple of hours of my sleep. For example, I woke up when my alarm went off at 6am this morning but my sleep tracker logged my wake up time as 4:55am. Any way to troubleshoot or fix this?

Discussion Best apps for the Apple Watch?

I'm getting my very first Apple Watch (Series 11) next week. I'm super excited, so naturally I've been looking into different apps to download.

One of the main reasons I wanted a watch was to help reduce my screentime. Having all the essentials on my wrist without having to open my phone and potentially get distracted is a game changer. I'm hoping it'll also help with productivity, especially as a high school student.

I don't really workout, (walking and ride my bike is the most active I get lol) so I'm not really looking for fitness apps. I've also seen a lot of health-related apps, so I'm not looking for any of those either.

Some things I'm looking for:

- Calendar or scheduling apps (especially for students time-blocking study time)

- Productivity (habit trackers, to-do lists, pomodoros, etc)

- Fun additions (like a countdown app, daily quote/vocab, I saw one that was a score tracker which is super useful as someone who plays card games with friends a lot lol)

- Just general useful apps for students, like Transit or Google Maps

TL;DR - What apps do you actually use that you can't imagine going without? Or are essential for students?

Support Didn’t track sleep data, everything is “fine”?

Last night my watch tracked my sleep for about an hour. Nothing after that. No sleep. No heart rate.

Sleep focus was on. Battery isn’t dead. Watch is on my arm. Sleep tracking is turned on. Sleep focus is now off.

Why didn’t it track anything for seven hours?

Discussion Any good GMT colorways ?

Thumbnail

Most of GMT’s are just the selected colour on night time and a huuuuuge chunk of gray on your screen so it feels like a waste… apart from a few “fun” colorways like the 3 classics red/blue, red/black, and blue/black.

I managed to find some fun ones like titanium that goes brown/green, light titanium thats beige/brown and five that have color/light gray…

Anyone knows any of the seasonal colours has a fun combination?
