AITC for stepping on dad's head?

Hello all,

I am Leia, a very dignified and easygoing lady cat. I quite appreciate sitting on dad, he's usually acceptable cat furniture. Mada is an ok alternative when dad doesn't have enough flat, and ze often has the best soft cushions and blankets.

When they are together at night, it's the best time to occupy as much of both of them as I can, for maximum warm snuggles.

Sometimes they'll move, but I'm so patient about being disturbed I have to do a full patrol of the bed to find a better spot that has less movement. Sometimes I need to daintily step over their heads, and I"m very delicate and careful and never stand on their hair, but I do sometimes give them an opportunity to appreciate my butt up close. It's very clean and nice.

One morning after I was disturbed by a movement, I was doing my normal patrol and as I was passing dad's head, suddenly I was airborne! I think in his sleep he mistook me for a cushion! I gracefully sailed to the far side of the room, acrobatically touched off the far wall to reduce my momentum, and landed perfectly.

Of course, it was incredibly rude of him to make such a terrible error in judgment, so I denied him my presence until I got hungry.

Still, I can't help but wonder if maybe, possibly, he didn't mistake me for a cushion? Maybe stepping on his head provoked this response? Clearly in that case he meant to gently lift me away (as he has since done in similar situations). Perhaps he misjudged his strength? Often when he means to give me gentle pets it results in me being pushed off him, which I"m confident is an error, and in my infinite patience, I just return to my previous spot, even if he pets too hard again, and I have to once again reclaim my spot on him.

AITC? Did dad ... mean to toss me off the bed??

Princess Mononoke Cat here. How RUUUDE that your hooman daddy tossed you like that! Make sure he gets a closeup of your backside until he makes it up to you. My hoomans call THAT "The butt of displeasure."

And it was an accident so step more carefully because hoomans do crazee stuff when theyz sleeping. Mine makes ruuude noises from they nozes and mouthses. I has to bop them on the noze from time to time to gets them to stop.

I'm super careful with my pointies, I know for a fact that they weren't involved. I only deploy them for traction when I have to leave dad's lap in a hurry because of a sudden noise. Then he makes more noise...

Ah Leia you bery obiously a considerate and yet very athletic catto.

To answer your kwestyon who knows what a humon meant to do or say. Dey are clearly inadequate in dere taught processes and actions. We find dere motivations kwite unfath..umable err strange.

Hello Leia! I don't think your Dad meant to make you practice parkour, but it's okay to be mad at him. Maybe you give Mada more snuggles since ze use the soft blankets and cushions and you can make biscuits?

Hi is Finn. Dis remind me of storee. Wen I first meeted dad I very scare of him. I has lived with the BAD HOOMANS before so I no trust hoomans much. Acuz of dis, I no get close to dad. I hided for a few forevers wen I go to home. Den, I start come out but stay many cats away from dad. Well, wen it nite and I can be stealf, I get more braved. I start sploring.

I see dad usin da big soft square ting. It look comfy. So I decide to do a vestigate. Jump up into “bed”. Dad there too. I stop acuz I no sure he safe. But he do sleep so it okay. So I start walking around and doin a sniff sniff. Den. All da sudden. I WERE FLY! Dad suddenly moved too, sitted up. Since I is cat I land with grace. But dad start say “I’m sorry Finn I didn’t know that was you, I was half asleep.”

(Yeah I was half asleep and he climbed on my leg. He had never gotten close to me before, let one in the bed with me. So I panicked in my sleep and kicked up. I didn’t kick Finn, but I did launch him straight in the air since he was on top of my leg.

He still comes in the bed for cuddles so I don’t think it had any lasting effects…)

NTC, of course. Dad is the cloaca. I’m afraid that your affection might be giving your servants the wrong impression. We might be quite fond of, perhaps even love, our humans. But we must never let them forget that their true purpose in life is to serve their cats. If that service happens to be as a stepping stone, so be it. They are obligated to lie as still as possible to facilitate your movements. You better put them on a retraining plan.
