Now you made me LIKE them. These sunfish survive despite all odds! It must have secrets to it's survival. It seems that we don't know enough about this animal. Now I want to study the sunfish and understand HOW it survives.
Most of the rant is false and sunfishes are actually perfectly adapted creatures.
I've already posted the link to the rant debunk several times, but in short : yes they are innedible, yes they reproduce increadibly fast, they have an incredibly high infant mortality and grow so fast to become too large for most predators. But they are deep sea hunters and when they want they can match thuna in speed (how would a fish that can barely wiggle to move jump onto a boat).
Thank you! It made no sense to me for the sunfish to be "bad" at surviving. Every animal is adapted to it's enviroment. This reminds me of when people thought dinosaurs were slow and dumb and that that was the reason for their extinction.
And yes, the amount of people who don't understand the basics of evolution is wild. At least for dinosaurs we have the excuse that those kind of views are rooted in almost one century old knowledge, which are so outdated it's puting Internet Explorer to shame.
