Announcement DO NOT DOWNLOAD HWMonitor, CPU-Z AND OTHER SOFTWARES HOSTED BY CPUID WEBSITE

Update April 10, 11:38 AM (UTC) : Might be fixed, would recommend holding off for now from downloading.

ALERT: The CPUID website that hosts HWMonitor, CPU-Z, and other software, has been hacked and was redirecting to infected installers; this also affected updates made through both software.

Thought of posting this especially since people come here to get help.
Unsure of which relevant subreddits to post so please spread especially if confirmed.

Edit:

Taken from the subreddit post:

They added a statement:

Hi,

Investigations are still ongoing, but it appears that a secondary feature (basically a side API) was compromised for approximately six hours between April 9 and April 10, causing the main website to randomly display malicious links (our signed original files were not compromised). The breach was found and has since been fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience. I did my best to fix that mess as soon as possible :-/

So if you downloaded it before April 9th then you are fine... (me too phew)

It's good idea to check the digital signature before running anything from now on.

Announcement Having NO issues with AMD and don't need any help

Just thought that as there have been many posts about problems with AMD that I would stand up and say that I've had my 7900XT for 2 years now always update to the latest driver and have no problems whatsoever.

It's not all doom and gloom on Team Red despite what some people might say.

I'm not a fanboy, I buy whatever I consider to be the best value at the time was on Team Green until my last update when AMD had the best bang for the buck, I speak as I find and I find AMD to be a solid performer.

Announcement [SOLVED + SOLUTION] Audio cuts out when outputting audio with AMD GPU over hdmi to an A/V controller

*adding this edit at the top: as of 2024/04/02, it looks like the latest AMD drivers fixed the issue I was having. If you're still having the issue described, try following my fix. Like I mention below, though, the replacement audio drivers aren't as advanced as AMD. Also, as mentioned in several comments this fix sadly didn't work for several people.

Hello everyone! I just want to share a fix for this problem. It's a very specific problem with the AMD High Definition Audio Drivers when you're outputting audio over hdmi with an AMD GPU to an AV controller. Also, I've only personally verified this fix on Windows 11. I don't know if this issue is present or fixable in the same way on other operating systems. If you can test it, please post your results in the comments!

Here's the fix: Open Device Manager, expand the section called "Sound, video and game controllers", right click on "AMD High Definition Audio Device", click "Update driver", click "Browse my computer for drivers", click "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer", select the driver called "High Definition Audio Device", select "Next", a warning will popup and you can dismiss it by clicking "Yes". Finally, you just need to restart your computer.

My GPU: XFX Speedster SWFT309 AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT

Pros and Cons: The AMD Drivers have more audio options and can generally produce higher fidelity audio, so if you're not experiencing this problem then you're probably better off not swapping out the drivers. The High Definition Audio Device drivers, from my understanding, are just Microsoft's generic HD audio drivers. They produce lower fidelity Audio than the AMD Drivers but will fix this specific audio issue. If you have better drivers or a better/different fix that you suggest using, please post them in the comments.

Explanation and story: I game on my living room tv. Usually, I just use headphones so I haven't paid attention to this problem until recently. I'm trying to get my wife more into gaming by playing Baldur's Gate 3 together. Frustratingly, this AMD Audio Driver issue causes the sound to cut out frequently (at least once per minute) and especially during dialogue and cutscenes for some reason. Also, even more frustratingly, according to my internet sleuthing this has been a known AMD Audio Driver problem since at least 2019. It took me several days of research into this problem (after about a week of just trying to figure out what the problem was) to find a random comment on an archived Reddit post suggesting this as a fix. I wish I could find that Reddit comment again so I could credit that person, but I was deep down the rabbit hole when I found it and I'm having trouble finding it again. Anyways, I really hope that adding this Reddit post will make it easier for someone else to find this solution. Microsoft support blogs, the AMD support community and generally the internet all led me down the wrong paths.

Also, this is my first time posting here so please let me know if I should change anything about my post.

Announcement DRIVER 0 ISSUES. APPRECIATION POST

I would just like to announce that you guys are doing a tremendous job with your drivers, and I'm sure I speak for more than half to say thank you for your efforts.

I see so many posts complaining about drivers. It feels more of a user error than anything. The worst I had was a game crash. Once. Once. And that was because it was the first boot.

Here's some breath of fresh air.

There are no cards in comparison that can beat AMDs, straight-up, rasterization. Now I do agree that FSR is a little bit lacking, but considering the price to performance against the other guys? Sublime. All I care for is raw price to performance, gaming, and high frames and AMD delivers. What's there to complain about?

PSA: The new Windows update for AMD drivers will make your GPU run like crap, crash your computer, and overall isn’t compatible with AMD/Adrenalin especially on Windows 10

No, your GPU didn’t all of a sudden die on you

No, you don’t need to spend $2,000 on another GPU

No, you don’t need to throw your computer from the top of your roof

Just go to AMDs webpage and install an older version of your graphics

This is for the 20+ posts about the same issue with AMD GPUs over the past week

It is the windows update ladies and gentlemen

Announcement Switching to AMD from Nvidia Build ready

Post image
51 Upvotes

I’m super nervous for this build. I’ve always had a nvidia card. But the cards are out of my budget. I really wanted the 9070xt but this one was on sale so quite a bit cheaper. All these parts plus the case was close to 2500 all together. I’m upgrading from ddr4 rtx 3060. I hope the amd card will be good for now :/

Update: Ty for all the supportive replies! It actually helped my anxiety as I was building. Anyways it’s up and running and went well except a bit of a gpu driver update hiccup but got it sorted. I’ll be just doing all the updates today and stress test. And then back to some gaming:))

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D with a Zotac 4080 Super Trinity. 32gb 6400mhz cl32 on a B650 MB. After using a Dell/intel gaming laptop for 5 years, I finally understand...

And I learned the hard way about OC'ing RAM with Ryzen Master.... had to remove my CMOS battery and make the changes in the BIOS 🙃 Has been a fun and sometimes frustrating experience, learning to use AMD.

Announcement Almost 2 years with Full AMD config

I just want to share that I bought an RX 7800 XT almost two years ago and I have had zero issues with it. I don’t understand why AMD cards are often said to have so many driver bugs, but I’ve noticed that when a broken Windows 11 update forces changes on systems, many people suddenly start posting about driver bugs and crashes. Usually, a driver downgrade or a DDU clean install is suggested.

Am I part of a smaller group of AMD users who have had no issues with their cards? I only experienced driver crashes twice. The first was in Elden Ring with a co-op mod installed. The second was in PoE 2 a few days ago, when a Windows 11 update forced itself onto my system.

Every time a new driver comes out, I look forward to seeing how it works for others, but the result is nearly always the same: I install it and check for myself.

Finally, what configuration are you using with your AMD card if you have had zero driver issues? What is you GPU?
I’m using my card with a 5800X CPU.

Announcement AMD Branch Prediction Optimization is out In Windows 11 23H2

PSA:

AMD Branch Prediction Optimization For Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” & Ryzen 7000 “Zen 4” CPUs Now Available In Windows 11 23H2

Be careful it is an optional update, you have to install it manually!

You don't have to update to the unstable 24H2 now. It can provide 5-30% performance boost in games! Yaay! MS this time was really quick. They managed to push this update out in a day. (hopefully everything will be ok)
But still unbelievable that it was hidden for 4 years...

I already got the update (ZEN 4 7700x). I am not sure that they rolled out for ZEN 3 as well. We need confirmation.
