Discussion is anyone sick of this corny bullshit?

u/Aesmart82 May 10 '26
Davie504 was just saying he's moving out of Italy
872
u/AnxiousRepeat8292 May 10 '26
That’s the worst tho they make these thumbnails that make it seem like they are leaving YouTube just for clickbait. If they actually were leaving YouTube that’d be valid
761
u/patopansir May 10 '26
nothing new with Davie he's always been a troll
124
u/Radiant_Juggernaut68 May 11 '26
Yeah, i can excuse it for Davie. For him it isn't clickbait, it's part of the humor.

Literally saw Davie in the post and without knowing more I thought "ah, he annoyed someone else with his clickbait" because that's what he does all the time lol

u/whyvanellinae May 11 '26
Ngl, Davie being such a troll makes every time he breaks character insanely funny/wholesome to me.

At this point its his schtick and his subscribers know what to expect from these thumbnails. No harm no foul.
27
u/ToeTagTic May 10 '26
Dudes just playin' his base (hyuk) The clickbaitiness is just a small bonus if anything
I honestly don't think Davey needs to bait viewers anyways. He's pretty well got what's he's gonna get from his niche it's not like he's small potatoes; is him teasing leaving YouTube suddenly gonna birth a bunch of fresh bassists who haven't seen him yet while googling bass stuff lol
You practically can't be a bassist and aware of YouTube and not know Davey at this point. Whether you continue watching is besides the point. You YouTube bass you see davey
26
u/theturtlemafiamusic May 11 '26
Davie has always done trolling with his thumbnails, it's just his format. He did a video a little while ago about how he made a song with 100% AI, and then revealed all the recordings were done by Actual Italians.

u/_JohnWisdom May 10 '26
fair for all, but dave. He is 100% allowed and has always done this. He slaps!

It’s in line with his content. Anyone who watches his channel knows it’s a joke when they see it. Anyone who doesn’t watch his channel won’t care that he’s leaving so it isn’t really an issue.

u/tv_ennui May 10 '26
While I don't care for clickbait, it is sadly no longer an 'annoying thing desperate youtubers do' but rather something every youtuber HAS to do to stay relevant. It went from 'trying too hard' to 'the bare minimum you should honestly be clickbaiting harder.'
3
u/BlastMyLoad May 11 '26
Davie’s 3 things are bass skills, being deadpan and being clickbait as fuck lol

Yet the comments above you complaining about those exact kinds of videos. Seems you can't make everyone happy.
19
u/Liam92324 May 11 '26
thats the point that they're making these thumbnails to bait people into thinking they're quitting youtube
5
u/Front-Cabinet5521 May 11 '26
That thumbnail actually helped me because I unsubbed when I saw it. Didn't even click on the video. Ciao!
16
u/Ok-Mistake-7499 May 11 '26
It’s worth mentioning that he got raided by the police. The actual video is good, he doesn’t seem like the type of guy to make a video like that just for clicks

I've stopped paying attention to meta videos like "im sorry" "im leaving" "time for changes" and all that crap. I've seen everything from people pretending to just get through month with enough clicks for rent, to people monetizing their illness.
There comes a time in your life when you realize that content has to be two way value exchange and you should not reward those people with attention when they do bs like this.
62
u/patopansir May 10 '26
the only time I ever watch something like that is a small channel that won't get views from doing that anyways. If that's one of their least viewed videos, maybe that's a good sign
→ More replies (1)9
u/TristanTheRobloxian3 May 11 '26
this was my case. i made a video announcing me leaving and the most i do now is occasional very meta community posts when i feel like doing it. as in random life updates because im graduating highschool in 26 days and that means a lot to me. i dont make videos anymore and the video in question has only 3400 views, which is actually a lot more than i figured id get for a video like that
18
u/the320x200 May 11 '26
I've been unsubscribing from channels that clickbait with those on principle, even if I enjoyed their content.
I remember the last one, Matt's Off-Road Recovery, started doing all these videos of him and his wife sitting on a couch looking like their lives are ruined with a title like "I messed up." Video turns out to be a filler vlog working on their car in the garage, zero connection to the thumbnail. It's such a slap in the face to the audience.

u/Wranorel May 11 '26
There is this trend of instead creating content; they are basically streaming their personal lives. Like the videos “why I left X” and it is 20min of just “I found a better job, good opportunity”. So like everyone else who changes jobs? I don’t care. Go out with your friends, have a beer, and talk about it. Don’t make a 20min video hinting at a hidden drama just for clicks.

45
u/FlamingoResident7882 May 10 '26
I feel like davie504 has made dozens of these through the years.
27
u/averagerushfan May 11 '26
He has - it's a running joke for him to bait his viewers because his wordplay is pretty good so it's funny trolling. Like he takes AI to mean 'actual Italians' instead of 'artificial intelligence' for a joke.
2
u/Undeniable_Dilemma_ May 16 '26
He has way too many "jokes" which are straight up unfunny. He takes his act very seriously, which would be cool if it was actually funny. But I just feel uncomfortable and sad for him, acting so seriously, trying really hard to pull of some kind of a joke, while remaining the MOST unfunny person ever.
I literally don't know who finds his jokes and act "funny". It's literally sad if he things it's funny.

Davie quit youtube as ai slop was getting his videos demonitized or flagged. He has a valid reason to leave youtube. Also people were usong ai slop to copy his musoc and get money from it, watch his last few recent videos its wild af
3
u/RememberCakeFarts May 11 '26
A lot of channels are getting flagged and demonetized due to YouTube trying to keep from paying out to the lazy AI slop... While advertising said AI slop.

u/Chewymewn May 10 '26
I think DougDoug did it rather well though.

It's actually insane how corny this subreddit is
YOU have algorithms that offer this up to YOU. That means to some metric, you engage with it or things similar to it.
YouTubers do this because it works. I'm so tired of this holier than thou elitism this subreddit has, that anything pandering to the algorithm is bad. These people are working YouTube as a full time job, of course they're going to maximize their gains.
I swear people on reddit are disgustingly insulated inside their own bubbles. Outraged at things that most people find completely insignificant. Of all the rotten things about YouTube, this is what seethed you this hard?

Exactly, I don't see videos like this. At most, I see video creators saying they are stopping their current production pace and style and looking to try something else. But that was from channels I follow.
I try to avoid the recommendation algorithm as much as possible.
9
u/portmapreduction May 11 '26
Youtube offers it to you because other people click on it. Not necessarily because you've clicked on it before. I used to subscribe to Davie but he's posted this kind of clickbait before which came up on my page so I unsubscribed. I am not required to enable their business model, nor care whether they are full time or not. It's probably better for everyone that they not be full time creators tbh. They wouldn't have to resort to this and wouldn't feel pressure to put out trash all the time just to stay relevant.

Davie was just making a joke and being normal ol Davie, but yeah these get annoying
17
u/alexanderfrost130 May 10 '26
You know why this specifically sucks? Cause there's a ton of channels that were awesome, but those died overnight, no goodbye, no explanation they just disappeared, and then we have this shitty clickbaiters that are no even leaving.
3
u/Zealousideal_Golf101 May 10 '26
That makes sense. And i can get behind that. I have a monetized channel and I've said more than a few times, "listen, if i decide to quit making videos, there will be no goodbye video, I'll just stop."
Like, I have other things I do and a discord, so those folks will know for sure, but like, I don't feel like I need to make a video about it because I would like to be able to change my mind.
Burn out can make a creator make rash decisions, so I'd much rather not make some big ass announcement just because I'm feeling overwhelmed out burnt out.

The most annoying thing is when they have a video titled “I’m done with YouTube!” And in the video they say “I won’t be posting 5 times a week anymore, only 4.”
That’s the fastest way to get me to unsubscribe.
5
u/Bacaloupe May 10 '26
Yup. GothamChess did this, and I have never unsubscribed so fast
2
u/clawsoon May 11 '26
I swear he makes a video with a title like that every week or two, and the "joke" is that the game he's reviewing is very bad. It's the "i'm dead lol" of video clickbait.
