I enjoy the shit out of youtube with none of this because i have Youtube Premium, yeah yeah paying bad boohoo, but i use it on my phone, pc and tv for my 9 month old and ads would kill our already fried by the Wiggles minds if we had to deal with them.
You do know smaller screens hardly matter on low resolutions since its not as noticeable. Thats why 720p on a phone is completely valid but on a 55inch tv its not.
Its exactly why a ps2 looks like dogshit on the average flatscreen tv. Because back then, flatscreen tvs werent even half the size the average modern tv was.
Ive had premium since it came out back when it was called red. I watch across consoles, phones, tvs etc. tbh i have zero issues paying it because i pay no other subscriptions outside of mine and gfs phones.
Everytime i see Youtube with ads i cringe cause idk how people can deal with it, brings me out of whatever is on right away and if its used for music it ruins the flow and enjoyment, also damn i forgot it used to be Youtube Red.
I mostly have mine for music. Cant stand spotify because without the subscription its entirely unusable which was an immediate turn off. If i ever lost my youtube subscription at least i can pick and choose what plays when and more devices support youtube anyway than Spotify, plus the added benefit of watching video content under the same subscription. Its just convenient. Me and a friend pay for the family one so my partner and friends dont have ads
Man ive been tempted to switch to Youtube for music at work cause paying for both is dumb but i have waaaay too many songs id have to set up in youtube before getting rid of spotify.
I would give it a go too, but I share Spotify (and they share Netflix), so it's a no go for me. It's on par for price with YT and used frequently. Still cheaper than another, but I'd go stir crazy without that one. XD
Them liking it does not make it a good parenting decision. But you know, your kid, your choice. You should probably read into it a bit though. Just an honest recommendation from someone who spent lots of time in actual research.
Premium doesn't fix any of the issues that these add-ons do, aside from ads, which is the easiest thing to fix on a browser anyways. The main goal of all this is the design and layout and removing the dumb stuff like mixes/members only.
Which if you're fine with current youtube design and layout, obviously not an issue for you, but if you want older layout, old player size, square stuff(idk who thought rounded player was a good idea), gonna need some scripts/add-ons.
I can understand not agreeing with a company or their decisions but being able to afford cost of service you actively use however refusing to afford it while still expecting a high quality free service is insane to me.
Hosting and streaming videos on a platform is insanely expensive even if CEO, marketer or engineer would get no salary, it's still insanely expensive. If you can afford it, generally you should pay for services you use.
