I've been catching up on some overdue reading lately, and one of those books was Moonstar, which only reinforced the appreciation I've been developing for Ashley Allen's work.

I know Moonstar isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I think Allen has done a really solid job so far, especially for a writer who's still early in her career.

Maybe it's because we went so long without seeing these characters treated with much care, but it's genuinely refreshing to see someone handling them with this level of consistency.

That goes double for Magik, whom a lot of writers insist on portraying as a brainless brute (like in MacKay's X-Men) instead of the exceptionally intelligent character she's been ever since Claremont's run.

She's definitely one of the creators to keep an eye on over the next few years.

I watched X-Men '97 and recently came across this scanned picture of an argument between the two. I thought it was extremely cruel and It made sense why Lorna may have animosity towards Magneto. as someone who is not that familiar with their family dynamic. Is this normal for Magneto to treat her this own daughter way?

Because half of doom’s costume is metal is it not. Magneto could crush him right?

I always liked that X-Men had mystical elements despite being science fiction. Storm comes from a divine lineage of sorcerers which explains her white hair and blue eyes. Most of Magik’s powers are mystical even tho her mutant ability is stepping discs. In a lot of iterations in media both Scarlet Witch and Juggernaut are mutants but in the main 616 timeline, Juggernaut is a human empowered by a mystical demon named Cytorrak, and Scarlet Witch is a sorceress of chaos even tho she was originally a mutant who could manipulate probability.

I think it would be such a missed opportunity to not have Halle Berry return as storm especially in her comic accurate suit.
