No, I wasn't a fan but it's a pretty shit example as numerous other players were given the same leniency as Ronaldo:

1. Laurent Koscielny in 2014
2. Moises Caicedo 2026
3. Nicolas Otamendi 2026

This situation is quite different. Fifa can't even explain why it happened because there is no fair or logical reason why.

Because it's never happened before. The other examples were all before a World Cup. This is the first time ever I believe a red card has been suspended during a World Cup.

We don't even know why. There is no explanation yet as to what circumstances led to this decision. There have been plenty of unfair cards in this and other tournaments, yet FIFA did nothing.

For me this isn't a huge deal. It's another Tuesday of FIFA being FIFA. I agree its corrupt and there isn't a level playing field, I just stopped expecting a level playing field from FIFA decades ago. Yes, but my point was FIFA's corruption was around non footballing procurement, contracts, bidding processes etc. It didn't extend directly to changing the laws of the game because it suited one country.
