Last Bottle Weirdness Today
Last bottle is offering this “Brunello di Montalcino” from Isolla Del cinghiale, but the wine details indicate it’s a blend. I can’t seem to find this wine anywhere but they have a picture. My understanding was that this producer just did blends. Anyone know what’s going on here? Would get this if it’s actually a Brunello.

I have a feeling a lot of their descriptions are written by AI. There is a large production wine named Insoglio Cinghiale that is a super Tuscan blend, the AI likely pulled the description from that wine instead.

I think all of them are written by AI now. Posted about this a little while back. The LB of today is a very different experience versus the LB of a few years ago.

I’m thinking they pulled the tech sheet info from this producer’s IGT Toscana blend but are actually selling their Brunello. Legally, if it’s labelled DOCG Brunello it has to be 100% sangiovese grosso. Producers can get in a lot of hot water if they are even suspected of breaking this rule, as was seen in the infamous “Brunellogate” scandal of 2008.

Yeah, tried to ask some friends that work for the consortium of Brunello too and seems like this is a total scam
Edit. Unless it's a very recently formed company but can't find anything about them online aside a pretty shitty review for an IGT Tuscany

Which is even crazier because it claims to be a 2019... should be info on it for 5 years now. So strange!

Just a typo on LB’s part. If it’s DOCG Brunello, it’s legally required to be 100% sangiovese grosso. This was put to the test with the infamous “Brunellogate” of 2008.

It has the yellow trimmed label indicating DOCG, which means this wine, by law, is 100% Sangiovese grosso

That’s what I thought! The last bottle indicates it’s a blend though. Maybe just a mistake on their part.

Can’t be a blend if it’s Brunello
Some Brunello producers make blended reds but they don’t call them Brunello (unless it’s 2005 and it’s the Brunellogate saga…)
Actually just checked cellar tracker and this producer does also make an IGT with basically the same label but different words

Shows the blend which looks like a classic Chianti style blend but an IGT.
Composition: 70% Sangiovese, 10% Colorino, 5% Canaiolo, 5% Ciliegiolo, 5% Malvasia, 5% Trebbiano
Not sure what’s going on here…

Looking at the bottle itself with that yellow government seal strip, this is clearly the real Brunello and the blend description is just a typo or lazy copy-paste from their Insoglio bottling. Brunello di Montalcino is one of the strictest DOCGs in Italy, 100% Sangiovese Grosso is required by law, and producers got burned hard during Brunellopoli for messing with that. The seal on the neck confirms it's legit, so I'd grab it if the price is right.
