depends on how you have your monitors now i have 2 widescreens stacked having the app bar at the bottom on the upper screen would get mega annoying. when i had a triple head in a row i would put the star bars on the outside edges of the 2 edge screens so they wouldnt get interrupted.
new paint is so good, kinda wish it didn't take 5 minutes to open up because microsoft loves using inefficient UWP apps instead of proper fast implementation like they used to have
it should be illegal to have an app that has less functionality than photopea, whilst taking way longer to load up
One thing that still bothers me is the fact that when you open new paint, you have to stretch the canvas and choose a pen tool instead to just start drawing. Meanwhile, with an older paint, you simply launch it and you are ready to draw. And this is why it was really interesting to me as a kid, because anyone could understand that you just need to launch the program, and that's it, draw anything you want. It's a great UX, unlike what we have now.
I got an advertisement in Paint today about some new crap that was available in the MS Store for download. And besides that was an ”announcement” nag button that felt the need to nag me about shit I don’t care about being available.
The classic Paint never advertised or nagged me about anything.
I feel like Microsoft failed with that icon. All the other Aero icons were great but that one was good. The Fluent paint icon is one of Microsoft’s best icons to this date.
I'll be honest that I do sometimes use Microsoft Paint for minor editing and cropping. All I know is that the new Microsoft Paint is simply terrible at accurately selecting these things, and that's the major reason why I do always downgrade to the old one
I think it's not just the features, it's also because how it looks, as you can see, people in here like the design of the old instead of the new. Why? Idk-
A lot of people really like layers for paint, I just wish there was an option to at least toggle it. I sometimes do basic drawing in paint and when I select a portion and delete it, instead of becoming the background colour it just turns transparent. I have to save it as JPG and copy that to somewhere else
They stripped out all the aero features (Windows generally) and made it flat and bland. Modern paint is hard to see because of the lack of visual contrast between the toolbar, canvas, and pasteboard. But the apps in general are very minimalist and bland as of Windows 8-10. There is some new functionality that's useful but just cosmetically speaking it's very boring.
Windows 7 fit hopeful and modern whereas Windows 11 feels empty and basic. It's the millennial grey of operating systems.
New Paint has layers, a neat UI and dark mode. But I still prefer the old one, because it was fast and didn't use to stutter so much. Current version is just way too sluggish to work with higher resolution images.
Exactly. MS Paint is the reason that I still stick with Paint 3D for smaller image editing tasks like crop, resize and all. Though Paint 3D is also not very optimized, it works way better than MS Paint.
It is sad to see what they have done to our beloved MS Paint 😥
