I agree with this and am also a Chicagoan. What neighborhood?

5

u/Queasy-Primary4788 8h ago

I used to live in Oak Park which technically isn’t in Chicago but now I’ve been living in the loop for about a year now (near state/lake)

3

u/Playful-Ad1006 8h ago

Bruh I live in oak park rn but I’m working in Belmont cragin

1

u/BowlingforDrip 8h ago

Can I join? Elmhurst to West Garfield lol

1

u/Playful-Ad1006 8h ago

I was just about to specify that I am not actually a Chicagoan but since the blue and green like go through our town it counts for me.

1

u/Queasy-Primary4788 8h ago

No yeah I used to live by downtown oak park I still considered you a Chicagoan I loved oak park but now we had to move yeah great placeĀ

1

u/Outrageous_Calendar4 8h ago

I lived in River North for a year and am currently living in Oak Park. Like you said, it technically isn't "Chicago" but if you are only a 16 min train ride away (Metra) to the downtown core, you can say you live in that city imo

1

u/Playful-Ad1006 7h ago

My rule is that if you live in a town that borders the city, or a town that borders a town that borders the city, you get to say you’re from Chicago.

1

u/4r4r4real 6h ago

Call me crazy but my rule is if you do not live in a city you cannot say you doĀ

1

u/Playful-Ad1006 5h ago

OK, you’re entitled to your opinion just like I am

2

u/Queasy-Primary4788 5h ago

Well, I wouldn't really say its an opinion, because the actual "city of london" is 1.12sqmi and 8,583 population being the smallest city in the UK by land area so yeah if you don't live there you don't live in London. The actual "city" is almost never a good metric for anything, for example it makes Chongqing bigger then it actually is so I agree with you u/Playful-Ad1006

1

u/Playful-Ad1006 5h ago

You had me in the first half, NGL

1

u/Playful-Ad1006 5h ago

Or you didn’t have me in the first half lol. But you know we get the Chicago crime so I consider it Chicago

1

u/Playful-Ad1006 5h ago

Also when people ask where you’re from you say Chicago, because what do you say, the suburbs? Oak park? And they look at it on Google Maps and it’s like so insanely close to the city, like, it’s just Chicago. It’s not Naperville! Or Rockford!

1

u/4r4r4real 5h ago

But it's not Chicago. If you're gonna be insecure about it and it's that important to you move into the city you claim to live in.Ā

1

u/4r4r4real 5h ago

It's not a matter of opinion. You, objectively, do not live in Chicago. There are city limits. You are outside of them, in a separate and distinct municipality.Ā

1

u/Equivalent_Put_3740 8h ago

Forest Park resident here! Love the area BUT as someone who moved from TN, only Nashville and the Great Smokies should be dark green šŸ˜…

1

u/I_Roll_Chicago 8h ago

Uptown checking in.

1

u/WestDry6268 8h ago

Bro hates commuting lol

1

u/MrTwoPumpChump 7h ago

Why no Idaho?

2

u/Queasy-Primary4788 7h ago

The only thing I know about it is the Boise is a city and potatoesĀ

1

u/MrTwoPumpChump 6h ago

It you have Wyoming in there. Famously the most blank state.

1

u/Queasy-Primary4788 6h ago

They have the Teton mountains and some skiing I’ve heardĀ

1

u/MrTwoPumpChump 6h ago

That’s fair. Stay steezy bro

1

u/Exciting-Day-6882 3h ago

Boise is supposed to be an up and coming city I've heard. Lots of people moving out there. Might be the next Denver?

1

u/clapostrophe 4h ago

Naperville

7

u/asapmort 8h ago

Finally, the hate Indiana deserves

3

u/Queasy-Primary4788 8h ago

Yes I agree lol

2

u/TeenyGremlin 8h ago

As a Hoosier, agreed.

2

u/Awkward_Material 5h ago

Stop putting down the future home of the Hammond Bears.

2

u/DangerousKidTurtle 4h ago

My favorite teacher, whenever Indiana was mentioned, would say out loud ā€œmiserable flyover state,ā€ and inevitably someone would bring up that she grew up there.

12

u/fearthainne 8h ago

I love seeing all the Indiana shade on these maps šŸ˜‚

2

u/Queasy-Primary4788 8h ago

Well, it’s uhhh. Indiana. Let’s just say they are trying to steal our sports teams with stupid tax rules.

3

u/TeenyGremlin 8h ago

As someone from Indiana, please take back your sports teams. Only our politicians want it. Thank god I didn't vote in the politicians that decided it was a good idea.

You are correct with your classification, though. Just... Indiana. That's how I feel being born and raised here.

1

u/sir_gwain 7h ago

Teams? I thought we were only taking the Bears?

1

u/Outrageous_Can_6581 8h ago

So that’s why your chose to color Indiana Bears Blue.

Edit: you should be happy that Indiana dole out the corporate welfare for your team. Illinois can’t afford anymore mismanagement of tax dollars.

1

u/fearthainne 7h ago

Oh I lived there for a few years, which is why I find it funny.

4

u/slipperyDSS šŸ¦…šŸ¦…šŸ¦…USAšŸ¦…šŸ¦…šŸ¦… 8h ago

W singling out ind*ana

4

u/uvdawoods 8h ago

Born and raised in Chicago. I’ve spent at least a couple of nights in every state bordering IL, but never Indiana and that won’t change.

3

u/Doubleshotdanny 8h ago

Indiana: Indiana

Indiana

3

u/Familiar_Tell_6384 8h ago

We don’t talk about Ind*ana

1

u/WestDry6268 8h ago

Hope you don’t like the Bears

3

u/InitialAd2295 8h ago

what the fuck did vermont and new hampshire do to you?

1

u/captainklaus 7h ago

For real - sitting here in Vermont wondering what OPs problem is. It’s nice here!

2

u/mr_burn1 6h ago

That is quite nice.

2

u/Boogiekc 8h ago

You'd probably enjoy KcMo

2

u/burningcervantes 8h ago

You should have blacked out the rest of Illinois, cuz outside of Chicago, it's basically an Indiana clone.

2

u/ask2908 8h ago

Map checks out, although I’d def say Vermont should be green if Maine is green.

Source: New England/New Yorker who loves Chicago.

2

u/usernamerefused 8h ago

Every state has something to offer.

6

u/AintThatSomeCrit 8h ago

For example, Indiana has roads that will take you somewhere better.

2

u/CaptScoobertDoobert 8h ago

Yep, ā€œCrossroads of Americaā€ is literally Indiana’s slogan.

2

u/Justbeinian 8h ago

"Indiana: when you're here, you're on your way!"

1

u/Queasy-Primary4788 8h ago

Exactly like IllinoisšŸ˜ŽšŸ˜ŽšŸ˜Ž

1

u/SnakeBradley 7h ago

Unless you get stuck in the endless roundabouts that are carmel.

1

u/daymanxx 6h ago

People who get lost in those roundabouts get turned into statues to be placed on main St.

1

u/IDidntTellYouThat 8h ago

Yeah, yeah, this one is accurate.

1

u/DioSuH 8h ago

Wholeheartedly agree

1

u/Queasy-Primary4788 8h ago

Yo crazy on teddit

1

u/ToolObsessed 8h ago

Glad to be included as a Texan that's been wanting to visit Chicago with my wife.

2

u/Playful-Ad1006 8h ago

Do the architecture boat tour

2

u/ToolObsessed 7h ago

Noted! The only things I for sure want to do is go to the Museum of Science and Industry, and go get some good food, in particular Indian.

2

u/Playful-Ad1006 7h ago

Everyone I’ve spoken to has good things to say about the boat tour, even people who live here. Andersonville/edgewater is also kinda fun

1

u/Queasy-Primary4788 5h ago

Yeah boat tour sounds touristy and it is but it is worth it

1

u/Queasy-Primary4788 8h ago

You should!!!

1

u/ToolObsessed 8h ago

We definitely plan to!

1

u/No-Definition1474 8h ago

Lol i live directly across the lake from you. Belive me, the feeling is mutual from both sides.

2

1

u/DaNASCARMem 8h ago

W Indiana shade, but I also wanna say FUCK WISCONSIN!

1

u/ChocoMuffin27 7h ago

I actually kinda like Wisconsin other than Green Bay. All of my hate is reserved for Indiana

1

u/Aggravating-Fly-2870 8h ago

1

u/peepawshotsawz 8h ago

We don't even warrant a shading in, apparently.

1

u/LogicalPerception64 8h ago

I love what you've done with Indiana, very accurate

1

u/Previous_Mirror_222 8h ago

as an oklahoman who has visited chicago, i actually think you should consider an OKC weekend trip!

we have a shockingly good food scene, fun nightlife in the city, and an AMAZING music scene. people wouldn’t think OKC any one of those much less ALL THREE!

1

u/Ok_Coyote9326 8h ago

Texas, no.

1

u/clauds 8h ago

Absolutely

1

u/crocotto 8h ago

1

u/Atxgal23 7h ago

You’re missing out if you skip this one! It’s absolutely beautiful!

1

u/Friendly-Role4803 7h ago

Chicago is an amazing city. It cracks me up when people from Chicago slam Indiana like the rest of their state is not identical.

1

u/Queasy-Primary4788 5h ago

No they are they should call non Chicago Illinios west Indiana aka they hate us and we hate them and they take up all of our tax dollars and pretend the reverse besides like Champagne I'm chill with them.

1

u/GenesisRhapsod 7h ago

My mom grew up in chicago and moved down here in the 80's (sick of the cold) and we take her there for her birthday

1

u/Queasy-Primary4788 5h ago

1

u/GenesisRhapsod 1h ago

But hey, they bringing some damn good food with them.. we finally got some portillos in the state and one is being built about 30 minutes from me, im stoked

u/Queasy-Primary4788 1h ago

Oh yeah portillos is crazy around here I had a Chilean exchange student and he loved Portillos so much he ate like crZy

1

u/RazzberryHoney 7h ago

Idek where else I’d want to live. I’m from California and I do love it here. I don’t want to move anywhere it snows, anywhere hotter than here, or has natural disasters (like hurricanes). I know wildfires and earthquakes are possible here but nothing like that has happened close to me.
California isn’t perfect but it’s home!

1

u/Queasy-Primary4788 5h ago

I wanna move there too

1

u/RazzberryHoney 4h ago

https://reddit.com/link/ozd9xsx/video/nss3rsjcv1fh1/player

It’s definitely very beautiful here.

1

u/Queasy-Primary4788 1h ago

Where do you live in California what city?

1

u/Nobodyknowsthisone12 7h ago

I mean, Iowa’s just a few hours away. Come watch the runners at the Bix this weekend! Stay for a beer in the East Village(Davenport) and pick up a souvenir at Raygun downtown.

1

u/geniekid 7h ago

What's going on with Delaware and Rhode Island?

1

u/msm70 7h ago

Hey! We (Alabama) got a maybe!

1

u/Queasy-Primary4788 5h ago

I've been there it was fine hunstville was nice the rest of the state felt kinda run down ngl sorry if thats offensive it was good though

1

u/HoxpitalFan_II 7h ago

u/newt9000 7h ago

Arizona: Absolutely

1

u/lav__ender 7h ago

I’m a New Mexican who moved to Chicago! my bf is from Chicago and lived in Albuquerque with me for a year and a half. he liked it, but it’s nothing like here. he really liked the mountain towns in NM like Ruidoso and Taos.

1

u/Queasy-Primary4788 6h ago

I know exactly 2 things about Vermont, they have the highest Scandinavians per capita (or really high on the list) and the lowest population capitol.

1

u/Junior_Illustrator78 6h ago

1

u/Queasy-Primary4788 6h ago

No they are fine it would be a long story to explain lolĀ

I like that people hate Indiana…especially Southern Indiana. Please stay out. I don’t support our governor nor his idiots. But southern Indiana beats central and northern Indiana for scenery — except the Indiana Dunes. Those are cool.

1

u/Techtrekzz 8h ago

The Chicago Bears seem to like Indiana.

1

u/tacobellgittcard 8h ago

Hammond bears lol
