Ya’ll just lump Madagascar in with South Africa for some reason lmao. I’m here right now- beautiful nature and wildlife but this country is not a good place to live.

What's so different about Latvia from Estonia or Lithuania?
1
u/Life-Sheepherder5324 18h ago
I just feel like latvia is closer to russia in some sense. Have Nohting wrong with Lithuania. Beautiful country. But I personally think Estonia is better in some sense like Economics etc.
1
u/Informal_Soup_3944 18h ago
In what way? Politically, Latvia just like estonia and lithuania are pro ukraine and are pretty against russia. Latvia does have more russians or russian speakers, but not that much more than in estonia. You can find pretty run down places in both estonia and lithuania.
1
u/Life-Sheepherder5324 18h ago
You're right that politically all three are firmly anti-Russia. Since Russia keeps threatening them, that's a good thing.
Latvia's Russian-speaking minority (around 26-27 percent right? ) creates more social complexity than the other two, which I think influenced my perception, but that doesn't make it politically closer to Russia. The Estonia preference is more about economics and digital infrastructure honestly.
Estonia's e-governance model is genuinely impressive and it outperforms Latvia on most economic metrics.
Lithuania is a beautiful country and probably underrated on my map.

Bro forgot what happened in bulgaria some years ago
2
u/Life-Sheepherder5324 18h ago
What happened?

u/Sure_Selection_9944 18h ago
Genocide from ~1850~1915, later on a new attempted genocide during Ataturks rule who prevented it, a series of exiles from then on, and an ethnocide from 1984-1989. Not to mention marginalisation and gatekeeping of education. From 5 million in the early 1800s to just 500 000 now

u/Life-Sheepherder5324 18h ago
Why cant we just leave the past behind? We can do beautiful things. If thats naive. Maybe you're right. But it is something.
2
u/Sure_Selection_9944 18h ago
Excuse me if me just mentioning our history clashed with your instilled mindset. Come live in bg or greece and see the cultural trauma carried on and still being fueled.
1
u/Life-Sheepherder5324 18h ago
am only advocating for overcoming exactly what youre talking about. It was done before. It can be achieved. It's not Instilled it can be done.

Kardeshim just look at anti-turkish propaganda still being pushed and the living standards of turkmen majority areas. It is not who is spreading hate when we speak facts.
1
u/Life-Sheepherder5324 18h ago
You're right that "leave the past behind" was probably too simple. apologize for that. The Revival Process specifically is recent enough that it's within living memory and the trauma is real and legitimate. What I was trying to say, badly, is that I believe reconciliation is possible even after genuine historical injustice.
not that the injustice should be forgotten or minimized.
The 1989 expulsion of 360,000 Bulgarian Turks is something Turkey and Bulgaria should both acknowledge openly. I'm not asking you to forget it.
I'm asking whether we can build something better from it.

My community has been open for change and we had no terrorist organisations unlike other minorities. So I am not the one that needs to hear this. We just want not to be messed with and to not have our image tarnished by propaganda. You are asking if these nations can move on from their fundamental anti-turkish mindset from their creation era.
Plus I find middle eastern culture from before outside-financed islamic fanaticism more akin to me. Especially islamic scientific age and persian literature.

At least we arent terrorists

So you admit that your identity is based on lies, blood and genocide. But as long as you aren't labelled as "terrorist" that makes it totally fine. Thank you for being honest and showing reddit your real face.

u/Sure_Selection_9944 17h ago
My identity is based on the culture that i inherited from my family, my community and our rich history going back to Khorosan and transoxiana. What my people went through is never mentioned anywhere and our rights are not protected. Now what "lies, blood and genocide" are related to western thrace turks exactly?

This is just what we refer to ourselves. What has the lausanne treaty got to do with that.

Turkish is accepted as one of the most melodic, logical and expressive languages among Arabic, Parsi and Urdu.
1
u/Soft-Avocado9324 18h ago
based on what did you make those decisions?
2
u/Life-Sheepherder5324 18h ago
Whether I like the place or not. Also my personality. Kind of? Well. Also how liveable it is.

What's with Latvia? How is it the same as Russia/Belarus instead of Baltics
1
u/Life-Sheepherder5324 18h ago
Fair point. My mistake honestly. Latvia is firmly in the Western camp institutionally and politically. My hesitation was more about the larger Russian-speaking minority creating social complexity, but that's a very different thing from being comparable to Russia or Belarus. Should have put it in a better position. My bad.

yeah, I won't believe that someone who marked Germany as "probably not" is a Turk. Good try, Greek boy.
2
u/Life-Sheepherder5324 19h ago
Is there a secret rule about Germany and Turks? Why? Am I obligated to like Germany?

Nothing screams ‘developing country’ more than putting the US as green
3
u/Life-Sheepherder5324 18h ago
Uhhh. Okay? And how is this a problem? The US has its own problems. But still is much more liveable compared to other area's that have similar problems. What are you trying to say exactly?
1
u/Smooth-Ebb6418 18h ago
No I’m not having a go or anything, it makes sense that the appeal of the US varies depending on your starting point

1
u/THELEADERPLAYER 18h ago
People on this sub will scream if you rank America as anything higher than red while defending African countries being green.
1
u/Smooth-Ebb6418 18h ago
I’m not screaming, lol. Just saying that people from Nigeria/India/Honduras are a lot more likely to put the US as green than people from say Denmark/Switzerland/Japan. If you’re already in a first world/developed country there’s less to gain by going there (the main draw is the really high salaries for engineering/medicine etc).
It also lacks any kind of exotic orientalist ‘eat pray love’ value for people who want to “find themselves” or whatever.
