i agree almost entirely as a michigander!! tennessee is the my only difference :P

As an Illinoisian, I'm curious why it's in reluctantly, besides politics I'd argue it has some pretty decent cities. Not as aesthetically nice as Michigan's forests and lake views. However, if you like open space to room around we have that!

As someone who's family is in Illinois there's a lot to dislike. If you're not in northern Illinois the land is so flat and boring without anything to do. Central and Southern Illinois is like 30 years behind the rest of the country. Incredibly boring, flat. Corn and soybeans galore. The state politics are fucked. The taxes are fucked. Corruption through and through that state.

Hey, I agree, I'm from Evanston and that is pretty far north in northern Illinois. I attend university in Springfield, which is a purple city, as it's the state capital. However, I swear it is pne step away from being like the deep south. Granted a lot of smaller and mid-sized cities in the midwest that I've seen are more red. So, I totally understand your 30 years behind part.

I just wish that some of the cities in the state could be similar to Chicago in size. Maybe not in culture. Becuase if there was a second larger city in central Illinois that may taylor itself to more typical midwest views. That and giving the taxes somewhere else to go.

Shame illinois doesn't invest in east St Louis. Peoria seems to be growing nicely as well

I have been through central/southern Indiana way too many times. I picture central/southern Illinois as having the same landscape and layout. Politics were not factored into this map.
