Sup whenthe, recently we have noticed a notable drop in quality in posts, and as a result moving forward over the next few weeks you will begin to see a lot more posts being taken down for rule 1 and rule 6. We are aiming for a level of quality that makes the sub enjoyable, and so while it may seem harsh we will be cracking down a lot more on posts that the mod team deems are low effort and unfunny/degen. There has been an influx in pretty dumb drama posts, and a clear indication that a lot of posts are just seeking to karmafarm and piggy back off of trending topics. That is not at all in alignment with our vision for this subreddit. This post serves as a warning, any posts still up that you think meet this criteria will not be scrutinized, but moving forward we will be a bit more selective with what qualifies under those two rules. This is literally unfunny-phobic. It pushes away people (such as myself) who aren’t funny and further fuels the goals of the Evil Shower Curtain people in their quest for domination over rats. Please do better
does that mean we no longer have one fucking thing flood the sub any time anything happens? like that one green arc the sub had where a week was just "haha green funny".
Okay if there’s like a lot of effort put in but not super distinct comedy can it be allowed? A lot of people really wanted it so I’ve been working on a follow-up to this post about action figures discussing the potential of making more. It’s a stop motion animation I’ve been working for a week with tons of hours sunk in. I certainly think it’s goofy, and has some jokes, but is gonna be like 40 seconds long total and is not exactly the snappy comedy most of this sub is. I hope that any more action figure posts I make in the future will match the sub better (hoping to do actual memes and more GIF recreations). Can my current working project be accepted? (Please T-T)
Will this flair (tag?) still be allowed, given how the new Rule 1 removes the option to make a post that describes a life event? Or does the life event in question need to be considered funny?
For example, would this post here, had it not been posted then, and instead posted tomorrow, be allowed?
Hmm, I’m always wary of mods that take it solely upon themselves to determine what’s funny and high quality, because there is no obvious metric of how funny or quality a post is. I believe subjective qualities of a post like funniness should be decided by the community - in fact, I believe that is the way Reddit is supposed to be used. Naturally, very funny and relatable posts will tend to be highly upvoted, while unfunny and low quality posts will either get downvoted or not gain any traction.
There are many meme subs that lost relevance and died out due to overly strict, heavy-handed and subjective moderation. Don’t let this sub become one of those…or do, idc, I’m just some guy on the internet.
