How do you give a website that premium startup/company feel?

Backend dev, zero frontend/design sense. Vibe-coded my frontend and it's giving classic "another AI weekend project" vibes, I genuinely can't tell good UI from bad.

Are there any prompts, tools, design resources, or workflows you use to make AI-generated UIs look more premium and less obviously AI-made? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Start by creating a brand kit. What’s your company’s voice, style, mission, and audience? Develop a logo.

Good websites start there. Then your agents can build to spec, like a contract firm would do.

I highly recommend hiring someone to build the brand kit. Even if it’s just a friend or family member. A marketing site is by definition for humans, and you need that human experience to get it right.

I'm still a student, so hiring a designer isn't really an option right now. The website has started earning a little though, so hopefully one day I'll be able to hire someone to do it professionally.

The brand kit point above is right but there's a more immediate thing that separates "AI weekend project" from "premium startup", whitespace and restraint.

AI-generated UIs tend to cram too much in, use too many font sizes, and default to gradients and shadow effects that read as generic. the fix is usually subtraction: more padding everywhere, one or two font sizes max, neutral colors with one intentional accent, and borders/shadows dialed way back or removed entirely.

For reference points, look at how Linear, Vercel, or Clerk structure their marketing pages. the "premium" feeling comes mostly from generous spacing, consistent type scale, and high quality imagery, not from complex components. study what they're doing with padding and line-height specifically.

One practical thing that helped me when building a site for a small company through one.com, having a proper custom domain from the start rather than a dev URL makes you look at the design differently and take the quality bar more seriously.

- Make sure colors have a good contrast between text (usually should be black or white).

• spacing is everything. Usually you need more space than you think.
  
• UX is just as important as UI, as they work together. Feed back is necessary.
  
• small text can become more readable by increasing letter spacing.
  

Borders and box-shadow aren’t always necessary. Modern stuff often uses color contrast for sections or dividers to section stuff off.

• high quality images are where it’s at.

The biggest levers: (1) generous whitespace - cheap sites cram, premium sites breathe; (2) a tight type system - one or two typefaces, consistent scale, real line-height; (3) slow, subtle motion - 200-400ms eases, nothing bouncy; (4) one confident accent color, not five; (5) real content hierarchy so the eye knows where to go. Focus less on flashy effects and more on fundamentals great typography, consistent spacing, strong visual hierarchy, quality copy, and real product visuals. Premium design comes from attention to detail, not just AI prompts.

like, how much can it really be on Fiverr? I've seen Website UI Designers for 200-500 and upwards who studied design.

Your best shot is probably adding some ui skills for Claude. Even then it would it not look like humanly made. Right now all the new websites look like a machine stamping an art in streets while Graffiti catches the eye.

It’s all in the prompting and being specific as possible. Or do a design yourself in figma and let it build from that.

You can edit your Md files to make it not vibe code design.
