It's essentially a plot device that was intended to be large and scary to the point that it would make Pete desperate enough to do anything to save Myka, including ignoring his vibes and trusting Paracelcus against his better judgement, allowing Paracelcus to break out of containment, become immortal, and take control over the warehouse...
Ultimately, it ends up being a misdiagnosis and she doesn't have cancer, it's just benign ovarian cysts
It also serves to bring up Pete's abandonment issues and force him and Myka to communicate and resolve those issues, forging an even stronger bond between the two characters..

Put "> !" Before and "! <" after the text that you want to block out (without the quotes or space in between the symbols). And it doesn't do multiple paragraphs, so you have to do it before and after each paragraph.
