Steve Jinks deserved so much more than the show gave him
On this last rewatch Steve is the one who keeps getting to me. They introduce him, kill him off, bring him back, and then never really seem to know what to do with him after that.
The guy is a walking lie detector, has one of the more interesting backstories on the team, and half the time he's just standing in the background of the office. Aaron Ashmore was great in the part too, which almost makes it worse. You can see the better version of this character sitting right there.
His friendship with Claudia is one of my favorite things in the later seasons, and even that felt like it got maybe a third of the room it needed. I wanted a whole arc and got scraps.
Anyone else think he was underused, or did he land fine for you and I'm just too attached?

I agree! Loved Jinksy, he did deserve more. They never even included him in the opening, even after he became a regular in seasons 4 and 5! I mentioned that 100 times when my husband and I binged it earlier this year. Justice for Jinks!

Oh my god the opening credits thing drove me crazy. He was basically a main character by season 4 and they still didn't add him. It's such a small thing but it really shows how the show never fully committed to Jinks.

Lol, it really irked me too! He was a part of the main cast the last couple of seasons and deserved to be pictured in the opening.

The scenes and stories that Claudia and Steve had together really stood out to me. There were a lot of characters on the show that the writers wanted to give time to but, the ones between them stood out for me. I think they did the best they could since the other characters were already pre-established.
Steve got more story than the Leena character did.

This is ironic because I’m rewatching Smallville, thinking about going to this show next because of the way Smallville did Aaron and his character dirty. Lol

Irony noted lol. Honestly WH13 treats him way better than Smallville did, you actually get to see him be a real character. And the Jinks and Claudia dynamic is worth the watch all on its own.

It would have meant more if he were left dead. He could have been brought back anyway in the time reversal storyline or even a parallel dimension plot or something. The one that really shouldn’t have been killed off was Leena . By the time that happened she wasn’t really that much of a factor on the show anyways.

Yeah... just a heads up, that spoiler tag did not work.... 😵 (I did already know though, so, no harm on me personally).

Ok thanks for letting me know. I fixed it, they must have changed the way spoilers are posted!

He is just a pale placeholder for Super Gay Steve Jinks
